PRS SE - Amazing Consistency & Playability

I don't have that issues with them, but I do with Strats and most Jacksons, so I can certainly relate. It's all about what you're comfy with. I have no idea how people play Strats without knocking the volume constantly.
I had that problem with strats as well and bought and sold 3 of them over the years thinking I could deal with it. Other problems I have with them is picking on either side of the middle PU. It always felt like my fingers were either cramped picking between the middle and bridge or extended picking between middle and neck...

Yeah I've had a ton of strats over the years. Just couldn't ever get used to it. Might have to do a Warmoth build with singles, no pickguard, and controls further away.

Yeah, for sure!! I would have loved to love it. It is such a nice guitar, just not for my picking style and hands. Wide hands that don't clinch as easily as they use to made it feel awkward and slow. If it would have worked, it could have possibly replaced 2 others and freed up some money for something else, but unfortunately it's not in the cards this time.

Maybe you need the No Volume JT Industries ModTM ? :idk

All humbucker split coil tones are kind of Meh compared to the real thing. I think if you
know that going in and are not expecting epic Strat or Tele tones then you'll be good. :beer

And if you don't like Strats or Teles all that much then the split coil tones may be the best! :banana

I bought a DGT SE last Spring and it is my primary guitar at practice the past few
months (mostly due to the cold weather and leaving a warm house, going into
a cold car, and then a warm garage, and then repeating back home again), and I dig
it quite a bit. More vintage PAF style humbucker tones, so not going to hammer
the front end of an amp, but I am cool with that. I keep it in Drop D.

It's a fun guitar.

My Core Custom 24 gets good tones out of its 59/09s. I rewired the switch so the Neck (split, inside coil) + Bridge (HB) position is now Neck (split, outside coil) + Bridge (split, outside coil) so that I have a choice between inside and outside coils. Neither sounds exactly like a Fender, but, both are good and useful. The inside coils is a little quieter, due to the inherent difference in proximity added to the pole and pickup height adjustments I've done, but that's part of its usefulness. I probably play those two 'notch' positions most on that guitar....

At the OT, I got started on the PRS trail by their cheapest SE model, the Standard 24, at a lowly $499, brand new. Still have it. It's a great guitar, and, with a few adjustments here and there, punches *way* above its weight class....
