New synergy amp

This is the killer app I think we’ve been waiting for from Synergy. Used modules range from $250 - $350 and new they’re $400. So, not accounting for tax or shipping, you could have the amp and 3-4 modules for roughly 2k. Not cheap by any means, but much more attainable than having to go rackmount and spending over $2k on the preamp and power amp before you even get to the modules.

I still contend this should have been 50w with 2 6L6s just like the newer Victory amps. They found a way to make powerful lunchbox heads and still kept them under 20 lbs, but that’s a minor nitpick when I think Synergy is making a very good business move here and I expect so many more people will be buying these.

Haven't been into the syn stuff because the form factor didn't really appeal to me, but this is a VERY well thought out piece of gear. The assignable and storeable per-channel power amp configiguration and IR was an awesome idea.

Big agree on AT LEAST a 50w option. I could even see a 100 watter. That option to save a per channel power amp configuration is something that would be useful even for the big amps.

It all depends on what your plan is for the modules. If you are really fixated on the 6505, for example, just buy the real amp for the same price imo.

One module only. 20 watts. 2 x EL84.

Not going to get into this debate, but, for a lot of people, especially the ones who would buy such a thing, 20 watts is plenty. Hell, I imagine some, (including me), will run it silently, direct into a PA, or to a wedge.

I get that there is a sonic difference between say, a 100 watt head with big transformers, and something like this, but again, intended use comes into play. Not all amps are intended to "carry the room", and if you are using a PA, and are mic'ing an amp, or running it direct and into IEMs, you certainly don't need even 50 watts.

Right now, I'm running pedals into a PRS MT-15, and never have the amp's volume up past halfway. That's a 15 watt amp, (that admittedly sounds louder than that, but, still).

I'd even go as far as to say that, the MAIN purpose of this "amp" is to be run direct and/or silently, (umm, it has an IR loader), and it's SECONDARY purpose is to be an old/conventional amp. See Suhr PT15IR and the like . . .

I’m trying to decide if a Syn1 added to my Soldano Astro makes more sense than getting the Syn20ir.
I wish I knew if the new ‘0 watt power amp mojo’ they put in the new Syn20 ir is enough to warrant the extra expense in that scenario.

I still have an Ox Stomp sitting unused of late…and a Two Notes Opus hardly used as well. Use one of them and Astro 20 with a Syn1 as an alternative to getting the Syn20ir or sell them both to help fund the Syn20?

I would keep your Astro especially if you like that Soldano thing

In all fairness, that's one amp that has big-bottle tubes & is notorious for sounding / feeling bigger than the advertised 15w

Definitely keeping the Astro, just wondering if a Syn1 in 4 cable with Astro can get the best from the modules that have the new ‘0 watt power amp circuit’ they added or do I need the Syn20ir

It’s just in the modules but only 2 of them at the moment
The DrZ and the upcoming Toneking Imperial

Not going to lie....I was not really interested in the Synergy stuff until now. This has a bunch of features I was looking for in a small package. May just grab one!

Update! Arriving Tuesday!
Good thing I kept my cab!
