This song has pretty ripping groove to it! I much prefer his singing over Miles.

I tried on the AB stuff. Myles doesn't trip a trigger. His solo stuff seems most aligned with my tastes. Though the old man in me resists a lot of it really because of some baked in and misguided Creed dislike? His tone has always beenIdk, pretty sure Tremonti isn't in any sort of trouble at all.... especially compared to any of us schmucks
If anything; I kinda wish his solo stuff was a little more self indulgent and tech'd out.

I'm really impressed by how friendly and down to earth Mark is in that video. I know that's probably a super expensive VIP ticket thing, but having a legit conversation with a bunch of fans and geeking out about stuff is pretty cool.
Never really got into much of any of Tremonti's stuff. A couple Creed and Alter Bridge songs were decent, but not my cup of tea. But I enjoy hearing his thoughts on gear.

I keep trying to get in Alter Bridge and it just never sticks. They’ve got two songs I love, “Blackbird” and “Ties that Bind” (lyric police!!!), but I can’t seem to find those same hooks in their other songs. Killer tones, great musicians, songs are great, I just need a damn catchy chorus more often!

I did one of those VIP things on one of the Alter Bridge tours (at the Warfield in San Francisco). It was a guitar clinic with Mark plus attending sound check, a rig tour, and meet and greet with the rest of the band. Their bus ended up breaking down the night before in Portland or Seattle which set the schedule back. Mark didn't want to cancel the clinic which was supposed to be at 1pm so he did it an hour or two before they were going to hit the stage - instead of the original half an hour, he spent an hour with us geeks talking guitar, his practice routine, etc. It was pretty cool seeing the green room/backstage area at the Warfield too.
He really is a super humble dude and absolutely loves playing guitar and nerding out on gear, and as much as he shreds he emphasized that songwriting is what he loves most. He shared his laptop where he uses one giant Garageband session where he records all of his riff ideas onto different tracks and uses the track icons to "categorize" them into heavy, ballad, rock etc. I got him to sign the back of my PRS Tremonti Custom SE, but it was silver sharpie and the signature wore off (whoops!).
Because of the schedule change we weren't able to do the rig tour unfortunately, that would've been fun to see up close and he let's fans jam through his rig too (or at least he did back then)!
Blackbird is my favorite AB album - it's the most solid front to back, but there are always at least a couple killer tracks on each album. These are my two favorite from the most recent.

was basically going to post exactly this. reminds me of when you have a bunch of great musicians that have nothing to say/purpose to make music. Some killer riffs, and amazing technique in the band but there’s something jarring about it all that I can’t vibe with. Same goes for the vocals, I know he’s technically great but I just can’t get on board.

Mark has a very nice voice and I wish he'd carry more of the vocals in AB. I think his voice is more well suited to the acoustic singer / song writer context than in a heavy band like AB.

Some observations:
- He's using a prototype of the new, long rumored, SLO v2 module in the Syn rig. It has two proper channels and additional switches. Should be Epic when it drops. So stoked.
- I can't believe he takes a *real* Klon on the road.
- Glad to see he is using the 5050 power amp. Tremonti's a serious tone freak (see point above) and this makes my opinions on that piece feel validated.

I watched a rig rundown that happened right when they unveiled the MT100 head where he said that he's working on getting a clone of the Klon that can be mass produced for a reasonable price. There are already some good options on the market, but he seemed to indicate that they weren't up to his standard. I don't know if that is still in the works or not.
