Headfirst Alta P1

Guys, that's why this was phrased as a "feature request" and not a "either add this or i'm not buying it". i'm of course buying the P1, and of course have several other modelers i could run other preamps into. was just an idea that would make it a complete "brain for preamp" solution. Also disagree that it would cannibalize sales of physical units. i'm not going to buy a captor anyways (have a suhr, etc) and I'm pretty sure TN thinks of this as a way to expand their software, not their hardware. If this was my "all preamp brains", i'd invest in a bunch of DynIRs, etc that i otherwise would never have purchased without the P1.

Also,
most people who drop $2k on an Alta P1 are likely planning to use the preamp rather than use it as a stand-in for a $300 Opus
I really don't' think this is true, given Jason already runs the P1 as a standalone unit, and this feature would simply allow it to be the brains of even more tube amps than just the P1! It saves space not to "buy an opus" and allows TN to get people into their ecosystem that otherwise have no need for an Opus, but do want a P1 because it sounds great!

I’m the same as you, already have a Suhr RL, no intention of buying a Captor, but we’re just two customers, likely not representative. The fact that you can turn off the power amp sim in the Opus and not in the Alta backend when it would be trivial to do leads me to believe the omission is a business decision likely based on cannibalized hardware unit sales. You could be right though as the market for the Alta P1 is relatively small in comparison, but in the end they chose to leave it out. Just my opinion. I would be really happy if they gave us the option of turning the power amp sim off!
