For $500 or so more you could have a used SLO 30

Wrong forum. For $500 or so more you could have a used SLO 30![]()
IS THIS NOT THE AMP AND CAB FORUMWrong forum.
I tried quite a few - DRECT, Powerball, plexi, DS, deliverance, BE-DLX, savage, IICP and z wreck. I never bonded with DS in the past and I had a much better experience esp with the looser structure 2. The savage still doesn’t do it for me and will likely be sold this week. I did not compare the volumes as I was running it direct only via XLR so I can’t comment. I feel that the structure plus reactance gives a little more flexibility as it is changing the negative feedback vs. just presence and resonance controls.Sounds like a positive review
What modules did you try in it?
Did you notice at low volumes a huge difference between the syn50 or were they relatively close w the structure options
DSWhich modules did you feel sounded better with the SYN20?
Just playing devils advocate though and it’s kind of where I am at tooThis with an SLO module would be amazing.
With 6l6s.For $500 or so more you could have a used SLO 30

Because you can pull the SLO module and put in anything else you want.Just playing devils advocate though and it’s kind of where I am at too
If the clean channel they lifted from the Astro
And all the Ir stuff is basically the Astro
If only using the SLO module in the Syn 20
Again the Astro covers the crunch./ purple and the Red high gain
Why not go the full Soldano
Yes that part for sure if you plan to do so but if one wanted that Soldano thing only , I think obviously other than the price difference the Astro may be a better choiceBecause you can pull the SLO module and put in anything else you want.
To each their own. I thought the SLO30 was a better, bigger sounding amp.Yes that part for sure if you plan to do so but if one wanted that Soldano thing only , I think obviously other than the price difference the Astro may be a better choice
Hell I liked the Astro Red more than the SLO 30 od
Plus then you have the Blue / purple as well
I meant in toto.IS THIS NOT THE AMP AND CAB FORUM
FINALLY! Thank you.Because you can pull the SLO module and put in anything else you want.
Well, yes, but I replied to you saying one specific module.FINALLY! Thank you.
In my mind digital versions of preamps versus synergy modules would be a better comparison. So how does the Synergy compare to running an Axe FX into a tube power amp and a real cab? Do the tube modules actually give it some extra mojo over the Fractal amp models?
Yup and the reason I won’t be purchasing it (yet) as I already have the Fryette PS2 doing self attenuation so I don’t need a digital approximation of it.Also the ENTIRE back end of the 20w in silent/direct mode is digital. The entire power amp is ignored. It is basically the same as your Astro 20 but has additional parameters for reactance and structure. It’d be an absolute waste if you have the Astro 20 and do want another power amp.
Yeah it is hard to say - I’m not sure if the structure and reactance are analog components? I’m guessing they are and then they if goes to the digital power amp (xlr) and EL84’sIt hard to say as one of the Synergy guys said that the presence and structure is included on the XLR so maybe they are taking the tap after the power amp ?
It’s kind of vague
All you need to know is that the Synergy are preamps and not an approximation and not subject to frequent software updates where accuracy is claimed to the previous update. So how does the Synergy compare to running an Axe FX into a tube power amp and a real cab? Do the tube modules actually give it some extra mojo over the Fractal amp models?
Where you get this info? Also the ENTIRE back end of the 20w in silent/direct mode is digital. The entire power amp is ignored. It is basically the same as your Astro 20 but has additional parameters for reactance and structure. It’d be an absolute waste if you have the Astro 20 and do want another power amp.
