Fractal public beta is always followed up with the full release pretty soon after .QC hardly has this reputation.
Yep, and there's usually a significantly shorter list of known bugs. It's a mature platform though.

I don't think so, maybe they decided to try Fractals' approach?Has the Quad Cortex ever had a public beta for firmware?
Not to my knowledge. The system as designed is meant to update to the latest firmware and not having the option to go back and forth is probably why they don't do it and leave it to internal testers and devs.Has the Quad Cortex ever had a public beta for firmware?
I'll be keeping an eye on this...I've avoided NDSP but I do wonder about giving it a shot if it does hit a level of maturity.
The non-beta releases are functional and the beta is optional. People have been waiting for an editor for TWO YEARS. Why release it in a semi-functional state? NDSP does not give a shit about end users, IMO.Honest question, how is this different than say a Fractal Public Beta or Kemper public beta?
Everyone else is releasing open beta versions of things that already have functional non-beta versions. I don’t see how it’s the same thing.I don't need to imagine this - pretty much every commercially available OS has Open Betas, so I already live in a world where this is commonplace!![]()
And the beta part is the control not the actual firmware, correct?I’m pretty sure users have the option to not use it.
The only one I know that has used it is @SeeD How stable/functional has it been for you?
I`ve used it a little bit. I need more time with it. But I would guess that you can take a peek at it. I don`t think it will fuck up your QC beyond recognitionI’m pretty sure users have the option to not use it.

I genuinely think it’s great the QC is finally getting this stuff. :) It’s just hard to resist joking about it because it took so long. And the beta part is the control not the actual firmware, correct?
I honestly don't see why people are hating
Confused... Are you being sarcastic or just clueless? They (a lot of major mainstream S/W players) do this kind of stuff all the time. If you don't see the value in this, you'd have to be pretty lost. It's a win/win for users and the developers; if stability is of utmost importance for you, then hold out for a 1.0. By all accounts the beta is stable so it won't be forever. IMHO.Open Beta just means “here’s our shit, dig through it for whole corn and report”. Imagine if an OS did this?!
So, something that is new can't have an open beta? That's just silly!Everyone else is releasing open beta versions of things that already have functional non-beta versions. I don’t see how it’s the same thing.
The hate that they are getting for actually achieving this simply beggars belief, regardless of how many known bugs it contains.
For real. I like making fun of NDSP as much as the next guy here, but, this is... good?
