NDSP Quad Cortex

If you're not running parallel paths, you should never hit this issue to begin with :giggle:
I guess I follow this logic, per the "Dynamic" in "Dynamic Latency Compensation". But if there isn't some scenario where a cost is incurred (latency is increased unnecessarily), then why would there even be a setting for this? Why wouldn't it just be hardcoded into the audio engine?

(unless i’m misunderstanding the question) I’m guessing in some setups it’s beneficial to have a fixed amount of latency even if it’s higher, than having (potentially) lower latency that varies between presets/settings

There is still confusion as to plug in availability
A few of us Should go on the FB page and post

“ hey guys new here , so I have the QC and I just downloaded the Plini blocks but I can’t seem to get my Morgan and Petrucci blocks to show up , anyone else having this issue?”

Years on, and really no dog in this fight anymore, I still wonder at the choice of having three (or more) somewhat segregated software paradigms on one device….

I think it’s going to work out for them now
It was a painful process
But yes they tried to be the jack of all trades the idea was good
Let take a Helix , Kemper and all our current plug in market and roll it into 1

In hindsight if you asked Doug I wonder after 3 years if he would say I would have ditched the plug 🔌 compatibility and keep the 2 lines apart and just added the plug in amps as QC content

NDSP also has some horseshoes in their pocket because they have dodged several bullets
The Fact That Line6 / Fractal development cycles are so long honestly if line6 or Fractal had released next Gen units by now it could be a much tighter spot

ToneX had a chance they came out with a great price point capture box that sounded killer but the software experience and use was so bad no one wanted to use it

Fender Tonemaster pro
Basically took NDSP interface and helix strips
It didn’t have captures and they fumbled the release on sound but that could have been a big competitor as well

So NDSP has had a lot of luck over the slow crawl of the last 3 year

When I heard Fractal had a surprise ‘something new’ I was hoping it was/will be a little stomp box sized player that can hold a drive block, a mod block and a choice for either a capture block or an amp/cab block (choose one or other per preset) as well as have a delay and a reverb.

$650 and since you have to have USB to manage the files it may as well have at least 4 in 4 out USB audio. And a couple channels per block would be nice.

Probably would eat into FM3 sales a little but it would also outsell the FM3 by a lot.

Spend some time getting my stuff ready to do some recording, which I haven’t done with the QC so far…building a Kitchensink in my daw for recording and mididrums, basssound from a boss Gigcaster, and an extensive search for the right cab in the QC..,hope I still like it tommorow…the result so far:

One thing I can’t get my head around..I monitor trough output 3/4 to my cabs, and I record a seperate feed with cabsim into usb. Somehow the feed to daw seems much dryer then 3/4…almost like the wet efx get send with different levels. I checked for phase issues..stereo/mono differences…couldn’t find it. Anyone else experience this?

No idea on the wet levels, but damn that's some great playing there. Love it.

What power amp do you use? Is it compressing?

The return of a 22w combo and a 100w ss (stereo)….waaaaay below their headroom threshold…so I don’t think that’s the issue.
Plus…a capture of the exact 22w poweramp I use is in the feed to the daw…so if it compresses and the captures are good…should be equal.

I didn’t think of recording analog output 1/2 and compare that to the usb. 3 options…1/ some weird phase thingy in the cabs, 2/ time efx are mixed in parralel out of sight from the user and some parameter is off, 3/ my ears deceive me ;)

Regarding option 2, the phase analyzer in studio one didn’t show any phase issues..
So you go preamp->wetfx which divides into
->output3/4->ampReturns->cabs
->powerAmpCapture->cabSim->usbOut
Is this sorta the gist?

Another factor is that louder can sound wetter, and cabs are usually played way louder than monitors… but I assume you’re already quite familiar with that sorta thing. Dunno.

Hey Guys! You may have saw I just got a Mesa Mark VII.

Going to give out a couple more free packs of the VII for the QC.

1 capture of each mode. Includes baked in Marshall 1971 Greenback.

Let me know if interested and I will pick one or two.

cool man! Can't wait to try them out!

I'll be playing the Mark VII pack you were so kind to hand out tonight at band practice.

It'll be LOUD lol

Made a seperate capture this morning of the IIC mode and upped it to the cloud.

Im having some troubles with syncing sample clocks using QC, a boss Gigcaster and a Mac…in an aggregated audio device.
Both QC and the Gigcaster have no parameters regarding clocksource / sample rates.
When I select the QC as a source….things get messy. With the Boss as a master, it seemed ok for a while.
Does it even send a clock over usb?

Does anyone know how QC handels its clock? Is it always running on its own/master?…does it send a clock over usb?…does it switch to slave when there is a clocksource incoming?

Feels a bit “consumergrade” that there is no option to choose slave/master tbh….unless there is something smart I’m not aware of ;)
I think it only runs its own internal clock; it has no settings in the unit or driver for clock settings nor a Word Clock port so... yeah..

probably completely unrelated but interesting post none the less on FB

someone was trying to purchase QC from his local retailer ,and they had none in stock so the retailer called the distributor and was told
" the QCs are back ordered as they are waiting for parts and will not ship agin until the new QC is released .

So maybe we are going to see that Nano in the next month or 2

If they release a QC 2, OG QC owners will probs be pissed if it's an improvement on the OG 🤣

Especially since many (on discord) QC owners think the QC is very future proof and they don't have to worry about buying the latest and greatest every few years

Edit edit: QC is backordered on Sweetwater as well. Something is up

I bet its the small one NANO they probably use many of the same parts , encoders and jacks. building a run of Nanos used up the parts , because wait for it someone probably underestimated what they needed to order
