Not as much time with the Dover OC42 this week as I had planned. Planned vacation this week
and people still calling my ass to do shit. Fuck you humans!!

I did get one night of playing and it is different enough to own. Little saggier on the attack than
my OG Dover. Got some squish to it, and the clean up is even better.

As you know, it can border on Fuzz territory and maxed it is verging on that cool TB/FF territory.

I am excited to play it more this week. Is it still Monday? Say yes, please.

Have band practice tonight, so will have to get some quality bonding time with it this weekend.
May have to murder my phone to make that happen.

Hahahah I read the TGP thread today and it’s just a bunch of guys talking about random sh*t and adding “DD came in….my truck blah blah blah” I WANNA HEAR ABOUT THE F’N PEDAL!!!

There’s one on Reverb for $250 right now but I won’t do it just yet. If another month goes by and I haven’t snagged one, I might actually spend more than I should on one.

My hunch is this OC42 will be closer to the Black GE Dover you have. Not as bright and bitey as
the BC178.

I think I am going to have to man up and haul an actual amp and pedalboard to band practice
one of these days. COVID changed me.

That FM3 is just too damn convenient. I am almost ashamed to admit "I can carry my whole rig in one trip,"
as if that is ever an indication of ANY kind of success in life.

Well, if you or @Blix ever has any interest in a straight up trade for a Fulltone OCD and a ‘70, I’ll have them shipped sooner than…..something really fast!

Even EJ will admit that his biggest issue is getting EJ tones.

He’s said over the years a few times that he’s not so much tone chasing as he is trying to get his tone consistent.

I think his style/note choices are as a big a factor to sounding like EJ as anyone out there.

If Lydian moding is approximating Vai, regardless of tone, then those 3 notes per string
pentatonic licks, and string skipping arpeggios are really a big part of getting close to
sounding like EJ.

And I don't do either.

Or it is all in the sagging voltage of a partially drained 9 volt battery.

He also picks super lightly on his fast lines back when his chops were at his best, which I'm not even remotely able to do...
Funny thing about the battery myths , he prefes fresh alkaline Duracells!
