Lovepedal ‘Sale’

I have one of the isolated outs on a Truetone CS6 set aside for it. Not necessarily top of the line, but that supply has been able to adequately power my HXFX, Tonex, and the Dejavibe so hopefully it’s up for it. The CS6 has been a beast for me.
I use a Truetone CS12 with the DejaVibe MDV-3 and it's quiet. Although the vibe is finicky (noise-wise) with pedal placement, it seems to work best as first pedal after guitar.

Besides the FF and DD, do the others work ok in those positions? Some of those fuzz circuits can be finicky.

For sure. I'm going more for lead tones with them than rhythm tones, not big on fuzz for rhythm stuff, but they all work quite well. The amp really carries a lot of weight with these.

An hour vanished on me tonight. 60s spec Tele -> Zendrive 2 Gold -> Princeton Reverb. Absolute magic. The drive was roughly half way up, everything very middle of the road, so fat and juicy with single coils. Great volume knob cleanup too.

Thank you guys for showing me the light here. I’m keeping an eye out for these sales now, signed up for the newsletter.

I’d like to try some of the fuzzes.

Nice! I pretty much parked my boat on Lovepedal/Hermida Beach a few years ago after trying waves
and waves of others. I just enjoy the amp like feel, the dynamics, the clean up with volume roll off (like an amp)
and that they integrate/blend so well with a beloved amp and don't sound too transistory.

Have even owned some Kingsley Tube pedals in the past and I prefer a Lovepedal/Hermida 9 times out of 10. :idk

He's also not trying to put 10 dozen kids through private school with cork-sniffery prices. And he means it
from his heart. Sean is more interested in spreading love and generosity in the world than pedals. The brand
name is no accident. Very intentional on his part. Great dude who designs/builds great pedals. :beer

Stack the Zendrive 2 with a Klone. Sounds great.

Interesting. I’m one of the few out there that doesn’t love the Klon, but I have one laying around somewhere, will give it a shot.
I have a Nordvang Triple Gain and a Zendrive². I run the Klon into either side of the Zendrive² for a great sound. It is worth checking out.

That's fast! He must have had stock on hand for this round.

You inspired me to get out my Vibronaut and plug it in. Oh yeah! :chef

It’s definitely the lightest fuzz of them all, it almost has a lot on tap but then the sustain dies out early, into a straight clean tone. Definitely works best into a dirty amp like a 2204 with the gain up around 5-6. I played with the bias today, you can get it to where it sounds like this really metallic -almost clean sound that reminds me of a sound I heard when on a bad mushroom trip, or in the opposite direction it‘ll glitch out like a hard gate. I’m just a pinch off from the stock setting, trying to get the most sustain out of it.

I wasn’t sure if I’d call the GE Dover a fuzz or not before, but in that line up it absolutely fits in unquestionably. It actually sounds like a mix of that 70 and the EJ Fuzz Face. The EJ FF has the air around the notes like you’d hear int he EJ tone but it’s really, really dark, the 70 has the top end. The Red Dragon is closer to the EJ FF than anything else, I’m not really finding any useful tones with those knobs in any other position, it cleans up really fast and not in a pleasing way. Maybe with a dirty amp it’d be nice, I’ve still only tried it maxed out into a dirtier amp.
You should try the EJ FF like he runs it, with a Tube Screamer in front, off just for the buffer.

Nope! No more dirt pedals for me for a while. I just bought nothing but dirt pedals for a year and have more than I can put on one board without any delay/modulation. Actually running to GC after work because it looks like they’ve got a Belle Epoch Deluxe with my name on it!
Any buffer in front probably does the trick. I had the EJ FF for a while, but sold it before I learned how he used the TS in front..

Intentionally putting a buffer in front of a FF seems so weird to me. It usually totally kills the volume knob cleanup and ruins the dynamics in general. Is EJ just using the FF every once in a while for a particular special effect?

I noticed that’s something he’s been doing in more recent years. It confused me at first when people started talking about it because I was going off his old rigs where a Tube Screamer wasn’t even on the board. Have you see his Total Electric Guitar vid?

He does only use it sparingly and it seems to be less and less these days. He keeps it on his dirty rhythm amp and kicks it in for doing leads with it. As time has gone on, it gets more confusing over which sound he’s on because he’s using such little fuzz/distortion these days that it comes out as the EJ violin tone, which has always come from his Tube Driver/Marshall setup.

I swear that is what the 200LBS of Fuzz is and does. I may be wrong. It's damn close, though. :idk

EJ has always had a wide gap between his clean, dirty rhythm, and lead tones. Sometimes it
registers as a bit harsh, abrupt, and not entirely seamless. To me.
