I only bought it because @Digital Igloo said it wasn’t for guys like me, and I don’t like to be challenged on my modeler compass.

Decided I'm offloading my Spark GO and getting a POD Express for quiet headphone practice, or whenever i travel. That thing is ridiculous value, and Helix >> Positive Grid when it comes to tones.

Some guy at The Other Place™ shared a mockup design of what the POD Express' UI should look like, complete with LCD screen and six clickable encoders, given how it's supposed to be "aimed at people who want it simple"

I had to look it up and I don't dislike that design. But I know it would no longer be a $180 box. Even the Boss IR-200 is nearly twice the price for that sort of design, minus the effects.

When I was in Japan, I was a bit tempted to pick up a used Boss GT-1000 Core when I found one for nearly half the price of a new one. Compared to the HX Stomp, it has some good ideas like a view with all the block parameters easily visible as a table, and more encoders. I'd honestly love to see more of that sort of design. But it sure isn't happening in the POD Express price range.

I didn't buy the Boss because I expect they will release a GX-1000 at some point, and then maybe a GX-1000 Core.

I am weirdly obsessed with the transistor tape delay model and for 180 clams you get it with those amp models is . Heck it's worth it for that delay alone or the Litigator alone or the Placater alone or the Princess alone.

There’s also something about a hardware modeler that just feels better than plugins, which will be nice for travel.

Hell, at $179 it's worth it as a travel interface alone.
