Line 6 Helix Stadium

It’s really fascinating how you can continue to say really idiotic things.

Right now, it’d be a brave company who would commit to a sales price outside the USA. Trade agreements seem to be in a state of flux right now and committing to something now when you have no clue what the next month holds is tricky
There's a strong argument to suggest that it is probably *easier* to commit to sales prices outside the US than it is those in the US, because the saner parts of the planet aren't playing NO POLITICS games on imports!

I agree that you folks are in a worse situation - for y’all to pay a higher price on a British made amp takes one decision beyond your control. For me to pay a higher price takes one decision plus one reaction. If 100% gets slapped on the U.K. and our govt borrows a spine and puts 100% back, my stadium pre order will potentially be $4000 or so at which point I’d understandably be crying into my beer with no new toy.

I’m guessing that’s one of the reasons why so many shops here have a £99 deposit to secure a Stadium where you get the £99 back if you don’t buy it… It’s called a Timbuck3 deposit and it enables you to back out no strings if the price is crazy vs what you’re expecting. You can also back out if it’s missing an Agoura model of the Vox A15 on the Tonelab which was actually really nice back in the day.

We’ve actually got a really nice exchange rate right now ($1.34 = £1) but it’s amazing how often we see guitars over here where they use a 1:1 exchange rate so I’m prepping myself the XL will still be around £2k.

You need to also account for taxes. US prices don't have those baked in, and often the "US price in dollars equals euro or pound" pricing includes taxes, so if you substract taxes the EU/UK price might actually be cheaper than the US, or equal to US price + state taxes.

I have seen some products get cheaper now that $1.17 = 1 €.

can you imagine a fractal FM nine with the helix touchscreen on it?
Unfortunately I can, and it’s not pretty. Fractal’s deep edit paradigm doesn’t fit with a touchscreen. They’d have to do some serious redesign of the unit and likely leave out tons of parameters to make a touchscreen effective on that unit. As much as I love my FM9, I know this just isn’t going to happen, or if it does, it won’t be well executed. Good UI/UX is not in Fractal’s wheelhouse.

Just a couple of points - firstly, I'm in the UK like you, but more importantly the country of origin for the Stadium is very unlikely to the the US for units shipped into the EU and UK, because they are almost certainly made in the far east and will be shipped directly to the EU/UK rather than via the US.

Watching all the Summit coverage I am seeing lots of positive on Stadium also line6 has done a pretty good job about not letting out off the floor clips
If there is one area of concern that I do see come up , Paul from the Studio rats said it ,
The latency between switching presets was quite noticeable he did say it was beta firmware and still being optimized but it was someone that needed to be improved compared to competitors
I know Line6 is working on a solution to be able to get the Helix spillover up and running

I hope it will not be too long or there will be some communication as I would hate to see such a cool device getting slagged by the influencers day 1 for switching speed and have that be a bone of contention
Especially at the price point
You know they will

While gear influencers will defenitely hop on that, I can't imagine a situation where I needed to switch patches within a single tune. I mean, I never even switched patches at all on any single gig in my Floor days.

Ok, there's possibly an alternative patch handling solution, such as what was possible with the Floor already, namely going for easier patches and then being able to switch between them without any gaps. For me personally, that'd however require a global block functionality of some sorts to be present.

I can’t imagine they wouldn’t at least down what Helix did. Limit the signal chain for instant switching or use Snapshots in kitchen sink presets. It was pretty much never a problem on the OG Helix, doubt it will be here unless you don’t want to have to figure out how to use the unit for your needs.

I agree. It is SO RARE that snapshots can’t handle every change I need within a song that I’m not sure how much of an issue this would be.

I guess I understand the desire for instantaneous switching, I’m just not sure it’s table stakes when the core problem is so easy to overcome from the user perspective.

Use snapshots.
