Haha, that really triggers my quirk. I want to enter whole numbers. Thinking "ah, well, that might be around 50%ish, but really could be anything between 47,77% and 52,43%..." drives me crazy.[...] Moving your finger could adjust one parameter by +34.2%, another by -9.8%, another by +12.7%, another by -67.6%, all the way up to every parameter in the block. And it's not linear, because the X and Y axes are independent. [...]
So in a real amp...what do you do? or On real pedals?Haha, that really triggers my quirk. I want to enter whole numbers. Thinking "ah, well, that might be around 50%ish, but really could be anything between 47,77% and 52,43%..." drives me crazy.
In my ideal world, Focus view would let my enter: y:25%, x:50%
I know, I know...
Only line them up with graphics. So in a real amp...what do you do? or On real pedals?
Amps and pedals that don't even have scales around the potentiometers are particularly bad. For me, that's actually a deal breaker. So in a real amp...what do you do? or On real pedals?
Looks neat yeah!I like the angled look![]()
I was imagining graph paper overlaysThat's actually one of the reasons I prefer modeling.

Too vague. I used to replace the original knobs of my amps and pedals with Loknobs, which turn the potentiometers into stepped controls (stepped controls are sooo satisfying...). That was a good compromise.I was imagining graph paper overlays
Sorry, I still don't get it. What would entering y=25%, x=50% on Focus view actually... y'know... do? They could be tied to dozens of parameters, all of which could easily change per zone based on proximity. It's very different from a traditional XY controller... which we happen to have as well, but on a totally different screen.Haha, that really triggers my quirk. I want to enter whole numbers. Besides satisfying my quirk... absolutely nothing! And because I know that, I wasn't criticizing it but just asked if I'm right that it's not possible to do. Maybe it sounded like criticism because I asked the question in the same paragraph where I criticized the look of Focus view (because of other things).Sorry, I still don't get it. [...] And you may be happy to know our XY Controller screen does display X and Y axis values both in percentage (0-100) and MIDI (0-127), specifically because it's a linear XY controller. It can be assigned to any number of parameters across different blocks: Press-hold the parameter, tap X (or Y) axis, done.
Cool. Just trying to understand the request.Besides satisfying my quirk... absolutely nothing! And because I know that, I wasn't criticizing it but just asked if I'm right that it's not possible to do.
What industry paradigm is that?
I was genuinely curious what you were referring to. It was made to sound like it was a new approach.Oh my ftiggin’ word. Nevermind. Obviously no sense in offering a respectful criticism of an example of just one design approach taken (or not taken) by Line 6…despite making sure I qualified it by recognizing their genuine past and continued achievements in the industry.
ERUPTING FROM MT DOOMI could watch lava flows all day long. There are few (if any) things in this world more fascinating than erupting volcanoes.
