IK TONEX CAB

Amp in the room is like a band getting together and playing loud where the amp is pushing a lot of air
Since you have to play somewhat loud with a drummer a bass player and possibly another guitarist
Id say it same experience when playing small venues or clubs which may or may not have a FOH PA and sound guy
So FOH with a PA is what the audience hears what the experience for the band hears on stage will be different

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To me the novelty is in the mic/amp dial. If I’m correct they have an algorithm in tonex that “removes” the cab from a “full capture”?…just like Kemper does. Looks to me they put that under a pot ;). If that’s as good as the Kemper algo, no reason why not…smart move, I could imagine that contributes a lot.

My glass bowl: to me the IR functionality is a bit odd….unless they gonna offer some IRs that have the workings of what Kempers “speaker imprints” do…I’m putting my money on that being a next move!

Looks more interesting than most of the others out there. I do want to test a Laney 4x12 LFR or 2x12 I don't think I want to give my my stereo setup with my pair of Electro-Voice PXM-12MP's. Hmm.. maybe a pair of LFR 2x12's.....shit.

The Incessant unabating dissatisfaction of guitar players is what fuels the multi billion dollar music business
last count there are ~ 10 Reviews about this product, all say the same thing like they do about every product, you need this.. its a game changer...

:grin

I gather its safe to say [assume] this is a Class D Amp as opposed to a Class AB Amp ?

Not a real biggie either way - more just curious.

They do have that ability to remove a cab from a capture - idk how they do it, tbh.

There's that "amp in the room" line again; I see it everywhere now!

What exactly is "real amp-in-the-room feel"?
The Amp-In-Your-Mom commentary came out of modelers doing a good job of sounding like recorded amps but plugging them into PAs not recreating the experience of an actual guitar amp. Lots of debate good and bad. Personally I think it’s all subjective because with tube amps I love an open back cab amp in the rooms of my home, but prefer a closed back cab in the rooms of venues. Those feel quite different.

And the room is the most important part of the sound not so much the amp, some tend to forget this, take your amp from one room to another or at someone else room or practice place, your amp will invariably sound different

Hmmm since we don't mind going off-topic a bir on TGF...

From my extremely, very little knowledge I gained using my hyper focus ADHD to read anything and everything about it.. you do need to move some air to get that amp-in-the-room feel, right?

So what I still don't understand is, .. let's say we pick a Fender Princeton. And we have that on volume 1-2.. (so not flat/dead.. just enough to get something out of it) Is that still "amp in the room" ?

And what if we have a modeler.. and we put an ""FRFR"" on it.. and we blast with 100db+ in out 10 feet space room. Is that still not an amp-in-the-room?

(and no, this is not super relevant for my progression as a player)

No. At least not in the traditional meaning. It's still a mic'ed amp amplified through yet another amplification system.

Yes.

So why does it matter to some? What is so different about having that amp in the room (at those low volumes) compared to a modeler + monitors / FR FR ?

Serious question. Not trying to talk people down who want that amp in the room. I seriously just don't understand it.
