I was wrong about the QC

I get your points but you talk as if Neural is the only MI company that's ever miss-lead their customers with what proved to be falsehoods. Nor are they the only MI company to fudge release promises.
I mean I'll bite. I'm curious to hear what company(ies) took preorder money for a unit that was marketed to do a multitude of things (one being what they based their reputation on in plugins for example) and then these items are still not completed 3 years out.

Heck, their ad on SW until last year said the unit could play plugins and they had a editor picture displayed. It just doesn't come off as trustworthy.

I know they aren't the only one. Nobody is perfect. But I truly don't know one of this magnitude that went on for years

Genuinely asking and not trying to be a contentious d******d: what are some other examples?

One could categorize the FM3 headphone debacle as a gap between what was advertised and what was released. I agree that was clumsy (especially the “don’t talk about on the forum” rules surrounding it).

I probably done have a great pulse on the broader MI industry, but I do like a good shit show and would be interested to know who else oversold their product(s).

EDIT: WE’RE CENSORING D I C K H E A D NOW?

Just to expand a bit.

I've had dozens of modelers. It's a problem. Even when I don't like something I tend to try it multiple times just to be sure. I really don't have a dog in the fight because I've never gotten payment or free gear for anything. And I don't really have any friends in the industry. Just a dude behind a keyboard that likes to mess around with and talk about gear.

QC has been on my desk since I got it several months ago. It's really fun to use, sounds really good, easy to make tones, and almost never frustrates me. I'm big on reducing the friction to play and use devices, and the QC has so little friction. Size is compact enough to use on the desk, and with the UI you never need to connect to a computer. Tones are almost plug and play especially compared to a lot of other units that require tweaking.

I dunno, I feel like the QC is getting constantly dragged for no real reason. It's a really great device and deserves more love. Maybe it's just me, but again having gone through a bunch of Kempers, Boss, Headrush, Helix/HX Stomp, and Fractals, it's right near the top for me.
This x1000. And when I forget to not give a s***...

Thanks for the correction, I remembered they just used one of them. So yeah, one would do.

The new SC598 will probably power a lot of future modelers, including ones from Fractal and maybe Line6. It doubles the core clock speed of the SC589 for both the SHARC and ARM cores.
If they used that chip that would be an utter beast especially with one path
You could probably almost fill all 16 slots

Ya, them knowing for months that it'd be missing and not telling anyone about it, or explaining it, was not good.

Hey, has that planeload of units that got expedited ever showed up? :rofl

No UI is going to make up for that. I will take a little more complex UI and learn the device if it means I get more content.
I flatly reject this notion. So it's clearly just a matter of "different strokes", and we can all count our blessings that there are a variety of products available to us, to meet our respective needs.

And again, ToneX vs. QC is complete apples to oranges. Yes, they both do captures. I have an entire car in my garage that can light a cigarette, and I'm not bemoaning its cost vs. a cigarette lighter. ;)

You trying to say NDSP didn't know well in advance that plugins weren't going to be ready at launch 🤣

FAS goofed with that but that wasn't their first product and they had a proven track record which I think gives them some leeway.

This was NDSPs first product and plugin playing was arguably the main selling point at launch. While it was an inconvenience, I don't think you can equate a lack of headphone jack that was corrected shortly after launch to missing a vital component of your product (again that NDSP built it's reputation on in the first place).

Add in the additional missing effects, amp models, wonky hardware issues and I truly don't know how you can compare the FM3 headphones jack to the QC launch

There's a lot to like about the QC and if it ticks your boxes that's great! I got a lot of enjoyment out of mine even though I ended up selling it. By now it's painfully clear that the emperor never had any clothes and was swinging a huge schlong in everyone's faces. He's almost pulled up his pants by now but he's still a bit indecent. There's enough info on the internet to make an informed decision now, however, so whatever.

But is it your one and only modeler you have? I bet not. For someone who wants only 1 modeler the qc may not be the right one as it’s very limited
Will you settle for, "the only modeler I actually use"? How about, "the only modeler I'm not planning on selling just as soon as I get off my lazy ass"? ;)

Imagine an FM3 with the power of an FM9. Or an FM9 with almost the power of an Axe FX III
It's entirely possible Fractal might just do something in a FM3-ish size and then push people to buy footcontrollers for it if they want more switching, making true the modularity that the FM3 + FC6/12 hints at. Realistically few people need something even more powerful than a FM9, which can already run the latest and greatest modeling with few if any compromises.

A real rugpuller move from NeuralDSP would be to make a smaller, cheaper box using the SC598, that is as capable as the current QC. I would be interested in something like that, but existing QC owners might get mad.

Comparing the capture aspect of the QC as such a trivial component of a car in this comparison is interesting for sure 🤣

I don't think anyone is changing anyone's mind here. Nor should anyone be trying to.

Don’t forget that they started plucking amp models and items from the spec page during development and after they took deposits.

True! Too be fair the deposit was refundable. But I imagine a non significant number kept it because "they did say these would be available soon after launch"

Wait, this was an April Fools thread? I thought it was a “shit on NDSP and get Quad Cortex owners’ panties in a bunch” thread.
Nah. As much as I poo-poo it; I thought we'd get a good laugh out of it and that's it. No ulterior motive; just knew it would make for a good April 1st chat :ROFLMAO: QC peeps here are cool.
