I was wrong about the QC

Is that from Golden Nuggets
Seriously though a company called Golden profits just sounds like your about to get F-over

You can tell how big they are based on them not selling anything at less than 1,000 pcs. per order.

There's even OEM suppliers making clones of GP's products.

Has anyone ever reported that their PSU was broken? Did not work? Damaged their unit in some way?

Golden Profit are high quality PSUs and are used by a lot of the major brands - they just put their own label on the unit most of the time.
The decision to include that particular power supply is the issue - not the PSU itself.
A lot of people just get antsy when they see a wall wart and barrel jack on a $1.5K+ piece of hardware, period. I'm not one of them - I see pros and cons; the pros being: smaller footprint, distribution of heat, easier integration on pedal boards, the possibility of battery power, etc.

There has been a lot of speculation about the PSU being linked to the higher noise floor, and perhaps grounding issues (both of which are inconsistently reported.) I would sooner look to the design of the QC itself, rather than the PSU, if I were concerned about noise/hum. :idk

The fact that they designed such a beautiful enclosure and then threw that pile of shit into the box hurts me inside.

IMO, they should have gone with an integrated power supply and used the additional volume to space out the foot switches a little more.
Well yes but they would have needed to go through a lot more homologation etc if their PSU would have been inside the unit. Seems this external PSU was their way to get the product out the door faster.

Well, PSU or unit design, it has grounding issues. If you play by yourself with only headphones on, the noise is crazy unless you either:
- plug the QC into another device (via TS, TRS cables) that will act as a ground reference
- use a wireless guitar system instead of cable between guitar and QC input

Yeah, I don't doubt it. What I do question is whether the QC is any different from any other device running on 2 prong DC power into a barrel jack connector. At the end of the day, what matters to me is that there are configurations where the QC works fine, and it's still the only option that meets my needs in this form factor.

I was referring to the aesthetics.
But this kind of brings us full circle. If NDSP had had paid the extra 15 cents for a PSU - identical internally, made of white plastic with rounded corners a la Apple Store everything - might we have been happier? If so, I think we should all be wearing more scarves.

I plug in my Golden Profits (unfortunate name) PSU behind my desk, behind my amp, under my board, whatever, and I don't see it - or so much as think about it - again until I relocate the QC. :idk

Not to beat a dead horse, but look what happens if you type 'golden profit adapter' into google.
Not exactly a run of the mill supplier.

Maybe they should have stuck with GPE instead of spelling it all out?

Ya that’s true I think it just the name and translation that funny
But ya their power supply really should not have been the issue so IMO it was either spec’d or sourced wrong by NDSP or the culprit and noise is coming from something internal or on the board

I see one extra thing I’d have to zip tie down on my board.

The power supply itself is not causing the noise and spec'ing power supplies is easy.

- Does it have enough volts and amps?
- Does it have all of the Safety Agency approvals?
- Is the price right?

That's all there is to it.

stop picking on the helpless little adapter.......

I mean... sure. But it's not like an IEC cable isn't also a physical object. And sometimes - depending on what else your rig comprises - the need for 3-prong AC presents an even bigger PITA.

Repeat chorus: Use it if and only if it meets your needs.

You say that like it's a bad thing. ;)

The last time I saw Vernon Reid perform, it looked like a CompUSA had thrown up all over the folding table to his right. To make no mention of the pedalboard(s).

Love me some Vernon. He was one of my biggest early influences. Living Colour will always have a special place in my heart.

I’m going to go listen to Funny Vibe right now. :ROFLMAO:
