I was wrong about the QC

We already have a thread for that 🤣

There's a lot to like about the QC and if it ticks your boxes that's great! I got a lot of enjoyment out of mine even though I ended up selling it. By now it's painfully clear that the emperor never had any clothes and was swinging a huge schlong in everyone's faces. He's almost pulled up his pants by now but he's still a bit indecent. There's enough info on the internet to make an informed decision now, however, so whatever.
How Dare you insult the Count of Tuscany in such a manner

I mean I'll bite. I'm curious to hear what company(ies) took preorder money for a unit that was marketed to do a multitude of things (one being what they based their reputation on in plugins for example) and then these items are still not completed 3 years out.

Heck, their ad on SW until last year said the unit could play plugins and they had a editor picture displayed. It just doesn't come off as trustworthy.

I know they aren't the only one. Nobody is perfect. But I truly don't know one of this magnitude that went on for years
This is fair play. In fact, I spent a lot of time at TOP criticizing/ making fun of NDSP - right up to and even beyond the point where I bought the QC... and realized I loved it exactly as it was. An editor for a device whose on-unit editing was better than mouse/keyboard? Plugins with new amps for a device with free captures on the cloud? At $100 a pop? Yaaaaaawn.

NDSP/Sweetwater did everyone - and themselves - a disservice by misrepresenting a product that didn't need misrepresenting. They should have owned up to that properly a long time ago. Too late now; best we can hope is that plugin compatibility puts them back on schedule track, more or less.

EDIT: I can't believe I wrote "on schedule" above. :rofl

Was it you or Metro that had the issue with the first QC they got and had a subsequent issue with getting it fixed?

Comparing the capture aspect of the QC as such a trivial component of a car in this comparison is interesting for sure 🤣
Hyperbolic for sure. Tongue in cheek.

But you have to acknowledge, the repeated mention of ToneX being 1/4 the price of a QC is fairly absurd. I can't even begin to list the ways in which they fundamentally differ. It came up in my last post visa vis the ToneX UI being a human rights violation, but even in ways that are legitimately "by design", it just does way, way... way less.

It's entirely possible Fractal might just do something in a FM3-ish size and then push people to buy footcontrollers for it if they want more switching, making true the modularity that the FM3 + FC6/12 hints at. Realistically few people need something even more powerful than a FM9, which can already run the latest and greatest modeling with few if any compromises.

A real rugpuller move from NeuralDSP would be to make a smaller, cheaper box using the SC598, that is as capable as the current QC. I would be interested in something like that, but existing QC owners might get mad.
Agreed that would be a total baller move it might be a bit less power but if they did they one path you would basically have 75% of the QC but with less latency’s using a single path , it would be deadly
You could probably run 3 amps 3 delays couple of verbs and not be even close to limits
I doubt they would though unless they got a great deal on the new SHARC

True! Too be fair the deposit was refundable. But I imagine a non significant number kept it because "they did say these would be available soon after launch"
It was still a bad business move IMO. If I remember correctly, they originally had the IIC+ listed and then removed it. Years later, it was released as a plugin that you still can’t run on the QC.

That was me. My first QC was borked out of the box. (Per an ongoing motif re: QC, especially vexing, since I could immediately tell I wanted to keep it.) Sweetwater was a little dopey about it, but once I went "full Karen" (the fashionable idiom of the day), NDSP and SW got things going and had a new unit to me within a couple of days. (Some other poor soul probably wound up waiting a couple of more weeks or months.)

(P.S. It should probably be noted that my "full Karen" is likely more polite than most people's "pardon me" LOL.)

But is it your one and only modeler you have? I bet not. For someone who wants only 1 modeler the qc may not be the right one as it’s very limited

No, but it could be. I play it probably 80% of the time. It's not perfect for everyone but none of them are IMO.

It still can’t do what NDSP said it could do at or soon after launch, and there are other issues beside, albeit maybe not as universally experienced (noise, touchscreen, WiFi, etc). I’m not gonna sweat your swag or say you shouldn’t enjoy but there are plenty of reasons for the dragging.

One could argue that that’s grounds for dragging NDSP and not the QC itself; and to that I say, peace.

How many of the current modelers can load plugins? None of them. So it's not really a limitation compared to the competition. Just a limitation of the marketing team from four years ago.

The only issue I've had is that a couple times the input level has gone weird requiring fussing around with the setting until it resets.

I have no idea what neural promising things has to do with other companies lol

No other company has claimed their product can or will run plugins and then not followed through.

I'm sorry Jarick but this makes zero sense and out of all the reasons to defend the QC, and there are some, this isn't it

This is completely and totally beside the point.

“Limitation” suggests something can’t be done. This is not a limitation. NDSP wrote checks they couldn’t cash and have earned their lumps.
