Hotone Ampero II Stage MP-380

That good news because I think the HQ amps and verbs were using a ton of cpu prior
Perhaps the addition of the CPU meters was because they were working on that and optimization, if they can get another handful of amps and FX in HQ in the next update and lower CPU on the tone catches that would be a pretty big win I think

Yea the HQ's are using practically nothing now. 1 Tone Catch uses a huge amount though, so I'm glad I prefer just building my own amp patches over the tone catches anyway.

Nice to hear that the CPU utilization decrease is verified by others. Hotone could really grab some attention with a release focused on adding a bunch of HQ models next.

I put 3 HQ's in 1 patch (AMP, Delay and Reverb) and it was only 54% CpU, that's with about 5-6 other blocks in there as well. . With that + 1 ToneCatch it was 97%, and the ToneCatch changes % when it's moved around in the chain. Either way, there are so many great fx and amps available, I'll never need the ToneCatching. I guess if they decide to reprogram/optimize the tone catching maybe I'll do some of my own amps, as I have great ones, but I haven't found anyone's Tone Catch better than what's built-in already.. btw, I can't find the CPU Meter in the software, only on the unit itself. Am I missing it?

So has the capture CPU usage been lowered? Has the HQ amp CPU usage been lowered?

It looks like HQ amps and effects use noticeably less CPU. Using a HQ amp, HQ delay and HQ reverb along with cabs, drives, etc dose’s present a problem at all now. Come Hotone, do a HQ focused firmware update, please!

Good to know. I have since switched to the Tone Master Pro for myself but I'm still a Hotone dealer and am curious about their DSP optimizations.

That's pretty impressive considering the HQ reverbs were the ones that gave the biggest amount of CPU back if you ran into the limits.

I agree the Tone Catch poses too many limitations, not only in CPU but also with the mere 10 slots for storage. It feels a bit like a "because everyone else is doing it" type feature. I'm sure this is part of competing with e.g Mooer.

If anything it has shown that the regular models are reasonably good so I just went back to using those. They have issues, but play them through a poweramp and guitar cab at volume and they can sound rather good and feel good to play.

The HQ amps/fx thing is weird. It seems almost like a teaser for a future firmware that has not arrived in the past 3 years that the Ampero 2 Stomp has been on the market. I expected they'd release an Ampero 3 range that would only have HQ models, but maybe they have more pricing pressure that updating the existing range allows them to keep the price point they want, considering everything is more expensive nowadays.
