Home studio is getting an update! Vid Added - 7/23/24

Hey all! To say I’m excited would be an understatement.

About a 2 years ago I decided to start adding some gear to the home studio. I opted for a Neve 500 series rack and some mic pre’s from Tonelux. Then added an eq and comp.

Well, after that. Right when SSL dropped prices I grabbed the old standard, 500 series G-Comp and grabbed the Ultraviolet EQ.

In full transparency, I never really used them. Then all of a sudden last week I kept seeing all these guys posting NGD’s in the URM Academy FB page. I went down a YouTube rabbit hole and decided to ramp up my gear for mixing/mastering.

I decided to build a solid mix bus that’s totally analog.

These are the first 2 pieces to show up.

The Gainlab Audio Empress EQ. This is a stereo Pultec -style EQ with added Mids control and fairly aggressive gain stage added.

Also there’s the SPL BiG. The call it there “bigger maker”. Basically a stereo image enhancer and EQ.

Great to see some analog gear! I went with the maag EQ4M and the SSL fusion/bus + combo for my mixbus. If you do not have AudioScape stuff, they’re well worth a look. I have a few of their comps and they’re divine.

Awesome! Nothing from Audioscape but high on my radar. The Fusion is a great piece of kit. I have a ton more shit to post but on tour till Sunday. Been out the last two weeks.
