Someone on another forum related the Oblivion to the Badonk. The idea that these newly added (to Helix) L6 originals are based on other pre-existing L6 originals is very meta.

To be fair, at least two of them are most definitely based on existing Line 6 originals.

Somebody said the Oblivion could be a Mesa Mk2. Is this just shittalk or can someone with Mess experience confirm?

As I said before - it sounds really close to my Engl Powerball II (Lead 1). In direct comparison it‘s a little bit more tidy in the lower mids around 200 Hz where the Engl can get a little bloated. I‘d say overall it‘s closer to a 5153 than a Mesa Mark.

Ha, yes I've been looking at powered Kempers and/or an FM3 lately, however this HX 2203 has me wondering if I should bother. Or, if I should maybe even go Stomp XL or full Floor (currently have regular Stomp). I do love how fun and easy all HX units are.

I don't need tons of amp models/profiles, just one that I love, which I haven't really had with a Helix unit, yet. This 2203 could be it.

To be fair, fractal has more Marshall goodness than most and they all sound great. But, the helix is definitely a different experience.

I'll probably stick with fractal since I already have native and still get access to the fun updates.

Kemper is cool but profile hunting can be a pain

I'm really glad to have both Helix and Axe3. To be honest.... I pretty much never need to look at another modeller ever again. But we all know I will.....

I am SO out of the loop on amps. Anything that isn't Marshall or a 5153 I know only from youtube vids. My "amp journey" is pretty embarassing, bc in 16 years it consisted of a JVM and a 5153 50w. And nothing else.

Oblivion is nice. Not that I will stop crying for the EVH in the Helix, but a nice piece of gear in the meantime.

Nothing to be embarrassed about, those are great amps! In fact, apart from the unbearable noise floor the JVM might be my favorite high gain amp.

Here's how close the Oblivion is to my Engl PB II. High end is nearly identical, the Engl is slightly more low-mid heavy (we're talking about a 1dB difference, though...).

The white line shows the difference between Oblivion (grey line) and Engl PB II (red line). You can ignore the grey peaks in the background.

Please tell me he uses the MKIIC++. To me it's the only great amp in that thing. There are a couple ok/good ones but that amp is great.

Not all of us are capable of applying that high gloss shine to turds.

I still think the clean and EOB break up tones (Fenders/ODS) are not half bad. Definitely serviceable.
When it calls for the gain to be ratcheted up it just falls apart into a steaming pile of

$1200 that he'll never get out of it. His money not mine, though.
