Have You Bought Any Pedals Lately In 2025?

I AM THE LIZARD QUEEN!!

This thing is sweet. It’s a bit more smooth/scooped vs my Octapussy (that thing has some gnarly mids) and rhe octave knob is nice but really subtle until much higher ranges. Fixed fuzz level. Also gets splatty/gated with roll off which I like. For $40 it’s a keeper. I love me some octave fuzz and this one is a lot of fun. You could do way worse for $40. Still want a Fuzz Master General to see how that does against my Grim Reefer.

I looked at these, mainly because the price was great and I always like a bit of weird fuzz things from time to time but ended up not digging the clips I found so I talked myself out of it. Interested to see how you get on with it after some time has passed.

Yeah I'm going to be digging into it more. It's fun for what it is and I'll see what I can get out of it.

My playing is NOT fuzz friendly, for lack of a better phrase; but I always jones for cool splatty sounds like it when I hear others using those tones. I bet this will be cool! :satan

I have the old Dano French Toast. NOISY beyond belief (another thing that absolutely DOES not gel with what I like/don't like about guitar tones) as well as the Boss OC-5. Which is great for the fake POG thing.

I changed the chicken head knobs on my new Thorpy FX Dane pedal earlier.
I just can’t get on with them .
I like to get both finger and thumb on a knob for accuracy and hit a chicken head with a foot you loose all settings .
Plus they are a pain to tape down 👎

After reading many glowing reviews I picked up a Tone King Imperial Preamp and it's truly great at what it does. I'm still just scratching the surface with it but hope to put some time in with it tomorrow.

I spent some time yesterday running the TKIP into the "Amp In" input of the Catalyst CX 100 bypassing the combo's preamp and it sounded great.

It reminded me of when I checked out whether or not my Cube 60 would make a good amp for my Axe FX. While the Cube 60 wasn't the ideal thing to use to amplify the Axe FX if you looked at it the other way around the Axe FX made the Cube 60 sound a whole lot better.

In this instance, the TKIP in front of the Catalyst made a marked improvement over the clean and overdrive tones of the amp alone. The Catalyst by itself sounds much better than the Cube 60 and the TKIP into the Catalyst sounds a quantum leap better than anything I ever got out of the Cube 60 no matter what I put in front of it.

I've said before that the cleans and overdrive of the CX 100 were nice enough that I could gig with it as is. With the TKIP in front of the Catalyst it would make a fine very portable rig for Jazz, Funk, or R&B which is my wheelhouse, and it would be absolutely killer for Blues.

Looking at the rear of the TKIP you can see a variety of routing options, MIDI, and USB. Given that you can also load in IRs, it's proven to exceed my expectations regarding tone and utility.

Here's a good review with a detailed list of features: https://strat-talk.com/threads/amp-review-tone-king-imperial-pre-amp.624755/

I just bought a second hand Memory Man XO, which I'm especially pleased with since they're not sold in our shops. (I didn't really have the money but I knew I'd swear when I saw it had been sold to someone else.)
Earlier I bought a Boss OD-3 and a 4-knob tc electronic Spark Booster.

How are you finding this? I had a TT1100, and it was cool but I found it was a bit noisy and affected my dry tone too much. I guess that's just what the Memory Man does ?

Only one pedal this year so far. I just got a used HX One. Had a super quick play with it and I'm very impressed especially for the price.

I've bought a bunch of other gear however!

I love it so far. It hasn't been too noisy and I don't  think it affects my dry tone too much. I can't check that because my guitar is with a technician for a mysterious hum, but I'm very happy with the Memory Man.

I want a Meowdulator so I can play the synth part in Black Sabbath’s Who Are You with cat sounds.

There’s a few cat themed pedals I want from B’s Music. His latest Mews Driver (Timmons Mk III Driver) with Andy’s cats on it is one.
