:rofl:rofl

Bought:
Strymon Volante - this is my second round with it after going through a “I will just use modelers for everything!” Phase. I like having knobs for delay. It’s great.

tone city seeet cream (I had one when first released and loved it; inspired enough to chase down th Mad Professor box that inspired it and gave away my original one to a kid, never liked the Mad Professor much and sold it years ago, wanted to bring this little $40 beast back in and see if it was as good as I remembered. Mostly a “yeah, it is a really good light overdrive”.

Tone King mini fuzz v2. This just arrived today and haven’t plugged it in yet.

FC12 - just got it last week and haven’t reeeeeally spent much time setting it up.

Sold: HX Stomp and FM3. No regrets on moving back to full fat Axe III.

Nice! I repurchased a Volante this year, too. :love

5 was a lean year for me - but 3 amps and 2 guitars helped my GAS.

What's on your shopping/wish list for 2025 (so far)?

Crowther Hotcake - I have a Vox AC10C and a Black Cat, so really should try out the legendary Hotcake.
Nobels ODR-1 - just to try it out. I think I have most of the other classic OD circuits covered bar the Hotcake above
Boss DS-2 - it's gotta be better than the DS-1
Boss SD-1w - does the Waza make a difference? I need to know!
Boss GE-7 - I do need a good EQ
Reuss RSH-03 or Evil Twin - pure indulgence if I do. No need for it.
Strymon Zelzah - I love Phaser and "need" another. I never knew which MXR Phase 90 I should get.
Strymon Compadre, Riverside, Sunset - pure wishlist but wouldn't mind checking out Strymon dirt
Spaceman Aurora - wishlist Flanger. I don't really use Flanger

Various Fuzz. There is no such thing as too many Fuzz pedals and each one is different, but I will try to snap up an Analogman Sunface when they come in stock here - very rare and I'll need to be quick. EQD Hizumitas and a Black Arts Toneworks LSTR or Priestess are likely, and I may need to buy another Coven.

I can vouch for the Compadre and Riverside. I don't really care for the Sunset because I don't have interest in tons of different drive pedals in one box. I much prefer the Riverside's "it's kind of like a tube preamp with an active EQ" thing.

Compadre is a really good simple to use compressor and dead simple boost/overdrive. It's the only analog pedal Strymon makes. I honestly wish they would release a smaller compressor only version because I don't use the boost side that much. I probably wouldn't buy it if you already have a compressor you like, I mainly wanted it to have everything on my board MIDI controllable.

The Compadre is the one I'm most interested in as the only compressor I have is an AmpTweaker PressuRizer that's a bit tricky to use, at least for me. The Comadre has a reputation for being easy to use.

Simplicity and Styrmon... I do prefer the Volante over Timeline and like the Ultraviolet and Deco.

For 2025, I might be interested in a dedicated delay pedal. Or maybe another eurorack delay instead. And maaaaaaybe if there's a really cool reverb that catches my interest. For modulation and most other effects I'm fine with the built in fx in some of my synths. For guitar I'm pretty much set with the FM3.

Dead simple is certainly name of the game. Turn the blend pretty high, set compression and level to taste, choose between the more transparent "Studio" mode or the "Squeeze" mode that is basically a Dynacomp - noisier than the Studio mode, but it has some pleasant EQ sweetening to it.

A good combo of the boost and comp is to set a higher compression setting and use the boost with the treble booster EQ setting. The compression helps tame the harshness of the treble booster.

2 best pedal purchases of 20204 were the Meris Flagships. Mercury X and LVX.

The Boss EVH SDE3000 is no slouch either. I may have a thing for Delay Pedals. :crazy:bonk

OK, I didn't make it to the end of 2024 without adding one more to the list...

23. Empress Effects Heavy Menace Distortion
