Some interesting things in that picture :). How long ago were you over here Leon?Dave is a great hang. His workshop felt like a super hip speakeasy rather than a workshop.

I’ve never met him in person but have chatted via email and his customer service IME has been as good as you’d ever want. He’s for sure really good with amps and rigs…… interviewing? Not so much, specially when he’s been drinking.Dave is a great hang. His workshop felt like a super hip speakeasy rather than a workshop.

Yeah I don't see anything worth getting worked up about. It's a 3 hour podcast and it looked like he sent one text towards the end.
The insight you get on these shows is pretty awesome because he gets good guests and gets them talking. And Dave knows his stuff so when he goes deep on the technical side you're getting a lot more info than if some random YouTuber was interviewing an amp builder.
reckon you owe him a few bottles of booze too tbfI still feel I owe Dave an amp purchase because all my dumbass drunken questions I used to e-mail him in my drinking days, including such hits as "I really like this Peavey XXL head but it's solid state, would you be able to mod it into a tube amp?" when the XXX, a tube-version of the XXL already existed and it's a dumb request to begin with.
I also probably sent him like 10 emails asking him to detail the effects rack he made for Layne Staley's live vocal chain.
I personally wouldn’t say I’m bothered by it but it does take some of the possibilities of the conversation being better and that I notice and it’s mildly disappointing.Yeah I don't see anything worth getting worked up about. They didn't discuss the IR-X vs IR-J channel 1. But he did say it has the new firmware and the Ownhammer cabs. There's even a new IR based on a 4x12 with EVs, since that's what Jake used with Ozzy.Did the tone talk episode discuss how the plexi based IRX channel 1 will differ from the plexi based IR-J ch 1 will differ?
Also, will the IR-J have the new firmware Ownhammer IR’s etc?
Many thanks for the info! They didn't discuss the IR-X vs IR-J channel 1. But he did say it has the new firmware and the Ownhammer cabs. There's even a new IR based on a 4x12 with EVs, since that's what Jake used with Ozzy.
The boost circuit has also been redesigned and its a Tube Screamer style boost or the IR-J, vs the Micro Amp style boost of the X and D.
A friend of mine sent me the new IR's from the latest update, they sound absolutely killer in my Axe-Fx.
