Friedman IR-J (Jake E Lee?)

I'm curious about it, but I've been so happy with the IR-D, I don't know if it's worth spending the money on this one. I think the IR-D is the perfect version for me.
I listened to your clip in your thread this AM and it sounded great. I've been semi-fighting off an Amazon purchasing urge for it since yesterday :nails

That thread sank faster than a mini submarine going to see the Titanic :ROFLMAO:

But yeah the tone on that clip is pretty cool. I've been using it live recently and it is really hard to tell it apart from my usual tone with the Marshalls. This is the first DI device that I honestly can say that about it.

That's a pretty big endorsement coming from you. I have been futzing around with the Stealth tones this week and the sounds are :satan Too tight and metallic for what we do. The Badlander was a bit more flexible as far as not ripping your face off goes :bag:LOL:

Are you using the IR's on the unit?

Yeah I can see that. I love 5153s but they're way too aggressive for what we play. I can get by with the blue channel on the 6L6 version, but it's still a little too strident and tight for me. The Stealth is a flat out metal head.

The cool thing about the IR-D is that it gets that JTM45 feel, with a hint of squishness behind the notes, while the actual tone is more of an 800 type of gain. I also have the 20w Dirty Shirley here and the IR-D is very close to it.

Yeah I am going to keep the IR-D thought in my back pocket for a bit as it would definitely keep things much more in the classic rock/non-sandblasted face tonal realm. I am interested to see if any other non-Friedman models come out in this same form factor. I like it much more than the Syn1 style.

Dave said there is at least a SLO in the works but no release date yet. The plan is to make a lot of the Synergy modules in the pedal format, but they have to work out the licensing with the builders so it might take a while.

I can name probably 8 module equivalents right now I would be happy to have :brick:rofl

I hope they don’t take half a decade to get things into peoples’ hands because the way the gear industry is going, by then, someone might come up with something even cooler (maybe Synergy themselves!).

Well this is a partnership with Synergy I believe so no reason to think there would be internal competition.

I'm guessing it's a discussion about $$$ because clearly these little amps are really successful and it's good revenue for boutique amp builders.

Also, remember that Friedman led with those mini amps along with Bogner and Soldano. I'd guess others will follow suit sooner rather than later.

God damn Dave Friedman do you need to take the looooooooooooooooooong way around EVERY story you tell?

:brick

You have freaking Jake E Lee on the show and he had to interrupt you and Mark several times to get back on topic
and make it about him. He was the god damn guest!

:hmm

Then when Jake does talk Dave sits there on his fucking phone. Fuck off! Really? Jake E Lee is talking and you
have to scroll on your phone in front of him. :cuss

I damn near threw my shoe at the TV when Dave was taking the scenic route time and time again and Jake
was left to twiddle his thumbs while Friedman did all he could do to make it about him.

At least Beato makes it about the guest.... and asks them questions and knows the audience wants to hear
from the artist and not the host. :facepalm to the nth degree
