Fractal Talk

Hard to believe that a high caliber session player like Euge never played an AxeFx in any studio worked with.
They’re not particularly common as part of a studio inventory, they’re more in the personal rigs of guitarists. For places that do have them, guitarists who aren’t fractal users will generally opt for either real rigs or their own amps.

I tentatively purchased the 4x12 1960TV DynaCab pack.

I've been wondering for some time if I'd really be able to tell the difference between the Ultra-Res DynaCabs exported from Cab-Lab and the regular DynaCab IRs on the Axe-Fx.

Well, of course it's subtle, but I'm pleasently surprised in the improved low end "heft" and focus from the exported Ultra-Res. Being able to move 360 degrees around the cone is also nice; more sweet spots can be discovered that way.

I bought the same pack.

I spent a very long time tweaking all kind of combinations on Cab-Lab. When I was finally satisfied I exported the IR, loaded it to my User CAB slot... just to later find out that the 4x12 1960TV DynaCab that I was using before purchasing the pack was practically identical :facepalm

Of course, you may get nuances that you cannot get with the DynaCab embedded at the Axe-FX. But you may also end up with the same result, like me :rofl

The fact that they've put out the release versions for the FM3 and FM9 but haven't done so for the Axe-FX yet makes me think that the release version for the Axe will have some additional innovations.

FYI - https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/fm3-firmware-version-9-00.207599/ (FM3 FW 9.0 release)

It's got the Mutron in it too.

Did the FAS Stealth not make it to the FM9?
