I did notice that the Dynamic Mics seemed to have less differences between them the other day when I was trying to re-dial in my Jose Marshall, but chalked it up to never really using Dyn 2 that much and not being familiar enough with it. There’s a difference, it’s just not huge. Pretty much every preset using Dyna cabs is either a single Ribbon or a Dyn 1/Ribbon combo for me.

Do you find this firmware has improved your HBE sound you loved prior , I know there are so many other models was just curious if the. Mid push has perhaps brought that model back to life for you ? This is an excellent reminder for me to revisit it in the new FW! Though I imagine it wouldn't be...

Have you used anything else? The Fractal UI isn’t unusable, but other platforms are much easier/faster.

Fortunately, the tones and power are worth it IMO, and they have the best computer editor I’ve ever used. I hate computer editors - except for Axe-edit. That thing is really well done and actually fun and easy to use.

I'd say Fractal is winning on pretty much every other level except form factor and onboard UI.

The editor used to be winning, but has been neglected for so long it doesn't hang with other editors these days.

Really? What do you consider better?

I really like Axe-Edit, the only thing bad about it are the file/cab/preset browsers which are pretty barebones with no real organization tools beyond a few color codes.

I started thinking about how many times I've fired up my Axe-Fx 3 in the past 6 months vs how many times I've fired up my pedalboard + BluGuitar Amp 1 (@Orvillain , ) + real cabs. I've been playing the Axe maybe 10-20% of that time.

I'd say Fractal is winning on pretty much every other level except form factor and onboard UI.

I think there are valid criticisms of the UI and workflow, but they are largely overblown on gear forums and in comparisons because internet guitarists have nothing better to do and they steadfastly need to avoid playing guitar as much as possible!!

Hey. Forumites need to have something else to do besides comparing two practically identical sounding boutique tube screamers by playing a G chord, letting it ring and then swearing blind the differences are Huge.

Once you've done that a few dozen times and repeated the test with some tired blues licks the only things left to do are go for a lie down or complain about UI and worklow on a forum.

My Axe-Fx 3 + FC-12 is shipped to its next, hopefully happy owner.

I've thought about doing the same thing many times since I pretty much only use the FM9 now but I just can't bring myself to do it.
