Well when you read some of the comments on the III forum saying it makes the fractal sound AMAZING as if they unit was dogwater before doesn't help lol

I'm sure it sucks being someone working on fractal units. Always something. It would definitely drain my want to keep going at an insane update pace

I know some comments are exaggerated but come on, the fm3 is 2 updates behind…

No updates since august, no gapeless already 2 refined algorithms behind the other units.
Total lack of communication also.

I understand it must be a headache to fit cliff’s idea in the fm3 and I really dont mind waiting but fractal is first of all high end commercial products and the total lack of official communications those past months are not a great move.

That’s not normal for buyers to see all the others units getting updates that are always commented as « game changer » « unbelievable tone » and having to find 3 posts on others forums to know if the update will gonna come one day or not.
I fully understand that Customers are in their right to complain a bit also.
 
I feel like some people forget they got their gear to play, not wait on updates. If you really want the most up to date FAS unit, you got the wrong unit in the FM3.

I can only speak to this current generation but they've put so much time and effort evolving their product from where it started. I think it's just poor taste to complain that the entry level unit is not on par to the flagship....and probably tomorrow it will be, when FAS has given their customer base so much.

The only functional thing you are missing is gapless switching in the FM3 (from my understanding) and people have been working around it since launch years ago. Everything is honestly is subjective improvements. I've seen numerous comments on the FAS forum saying "kill dry really improves my delay" followed by a FAS employee saying "there would be no change to your delay tone"....or "FW 25 official release sounds so much better than the previous beta" again followed by "nothings changed".

I truly think the only gripe FM3s can really have is from a functionality standpoint (hence my gapless mention) but even the bigger units just got that feature.

Just my opinion of course and I do get the frustration. Just trying to put it into perspective

But, regardless of what you hear about other products, are you happy or unhappy with the current tone of your FM3?

When we purchase a digital FX unit we are not contractually entitled to get FW updates. Why should they provide official communications about future FW releases? Futhermore, consider that there could be last minute technical challenges that create unexpected delays, or even make it impossible to implement. Why should they risk giving false expectations about something that they are offering free of charge?

I think Fractal has done a decent job of communicating on the FM3 status. After all the doom posting by some lovely members of the FAS forum, I think many are pleasantly suprised by what is coming.

Really the only thing I see as poor communication are the posts that give a pretty definite timeline. There was supposed to be a public beta a few weeks ago. And now it should be any day now, maybe last wednesday. If it's not actually done and someone's just proof reading the 20 page release notes, it would be better to be more vague.

Oh I agree. I think the forum is a good place for it.

Now I will say I'm critical of the QC and their updates due to them still not up to release promises. And NDSP was very adamant about pushing updates out. So I think it makes sense for them to make official statements about progress.

Not that this has any thing to do with the NDSP but I don't want to sound too biased/hypocritical 🤣

Could you imagine the outrage if FAS decided to start charging $ for updates moving forward? lol
