Fractal Audio Systems mystery product speculation

What is it not it is? Is it?

Even a Pod Express has two footswitches. It wouldn't be very useful with less than that.

Why not? I'm using an Amplifirebox as a pedal platform on my board and already thought about removing the lower portion of it, including the switches. I never use them at all, so they're just wasting space. I'd use them as little if the thing was serving as a desktop unit. You really don't always need footswitches.

Sounds like you would just need to get a FM9
My dream fractal product would be a fm12 with a switchable pedal expression (vol/wha) in the size and power of a fm9 turbo with built in wireless. 😅.
The allinone fractal ecosystem product.

And also bluetooth and official iPad app (cause we are in 2024 right? lol)

If it really is a small hardware unit that "unlocks" the Fractal stuff to run on PC, I'm gonna let myself go of a couple of $$.
Darn it - the anticipation is killing me (softly?)

in fact I want a fm13

this is my dream all in one fractal rig.

13 switches (spacing is ok I have no problem with airstep that have 5 switches and has the length of the fm3)
Exp pedal : wha/vol with a switch.
Wireless
Bluetooth midi for official iPad app and third party app like forscore (just select a sheet and everything you need is engaged. preset/scene/effects etc)
Wider screen (no touchscreen thanks)

plug 2 xlr and you good to go. no further need for huge pedalboard.

sorry for the absolute potato sketch here :bag

I agree, but I do want a FASLink connection

Fractal footswitches only come in banks of three at present - it's how they componentized the line up to keep costs reasonable.

So with the current construction approach we're looking at: 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, etc.

Only footswitch model from that sequence that doesn't exist yet is an FM6 ;)

I'm wondering why is it problem to simply plug in an expression pedal? I've never understood why people want one on the unit.

I'd rather replace a pedal easily if it fails, keeps down the weight and costs of the main unit too.

Then again... this is your dream, so you get to dream whatever you want I suppose!

FM6 has been crossing my mind a bit as of late
I think that might be kind of a bit challenging because it sort of in between
The FM3 uses FC 6 chassis
FM9 the FC12

I think you are correct on the FM0 or FMX
The biggest question is do the follow the same FM GUI or do they start to turn the corner with a different design

I honestly don't see fractal changing GUIs (even potentially in the new gen). I know we are clamoring for it on a forum but I could see the actual decision being split amongst the general userbase. Some people would love it and some would complain 🤣

I really feel like if this is a FM product, it's the 0.

They could do something like a small Helix stomp
Where you have a smaller grid like 8 to 10 blocks
Like wah comp drive chorus / Flange / phase amp cab delay reverb

Even with 10 fixed blocks if it’s gapless and 4 channel or 2 channels per mode it would be great

I've lost track of how all the processing stuff works. Isn't it something like an entire core is dedicated to amp modeling in the FM3? Or am I just remembering from something else? It SEEMS to me that they've all got about the same amount of CPU dedicated to amp modeling (while not everything has trickled down to the FM3, there hasn't ever really seemed to be a question about whether core amp modeling upgrades would be ported to both the FM3 and FM9).

I'm doubting its an FM0 as I (pretty sure I proposed it before Jive in light of my Fractal Combo efforts :bag ) or others around here envisioned it simply because...there wouldn't be a need to tweak the firmware other than to apply AxeFxIII FC stuff to an FM3 firmware.

I'm doubting its a "Stomp sized Fractal that is a little dumber than the FM3, but still does more than amp modeling" because (1) that leads to one more round of "okay, we've got new stuff in the Big Daddy, time to figure out how to get it to the FM9, the red-headed-step-child, and now the stray dog, too", (2) I'm not sure where you find a processor that can have a core that can handle the amp modeling, and still more processing to do any other stuff that isn't...just whatever is in the FM3. Something that has the same amp modeling processing power as in the big boys and nothing more makes sense. Quite honestly, especially if it has dedicated tone-stack knobs ala Ax8, I could see combining that with an FM3 or FM9 being a "holy shit this rig is awesome!!!!" scenario.
