Fender Tone Master FR-10 and FR-12 "FRFR" cabs

Okay which one of you bought the Open box Fr-12 from Sweetwater today :hmm

Funny story, me and another bandmate painted my YGM-3 combo back in the day, purple/lavender/blue all over including the faceplate... and with a drippy (trippy) smilie face on the grill cloth. :grin
Looked pretty funky! Used it live a lot that way. Still have it but removed it all years later, probably should have kept it on there lol.

I just got my fr12 back from repair. It got it's entire preamp section replaced, though I think that's the only option when something goes wrong. Mine was one of the 'noisy' ones though to be honest, it wasn't really noticeable. I know this is crazy, but I think it sounds better with the new preamp.
Was it a warranty repair?

Been contacting some stores about the FR12, telling them about the hiss problem and asking if it would be ok for me to go and test what they have in stock, and buying one if there's no hiss problem.

Only one of the 4 I reached replied, saying they won't have stock until July, and that they will be brand new units without the hiss.

So I'm guessing Fender has finally opted for doing things right. It's a PITA for the stores having to return products in these situations.

I must be confused, they started selling the Non-hiss versions last year. I bought mine when I got my Helix back in Nov 24. This was from Sweetwater, I assume direct from Fender would be the same unless they are just trying to offload the old stock haha. Wonder "FRFR" btw!

I read in Reddit and some forums about many "new" units (even with different serial number than first version) that would still have the hiss. The only way to know was testing them.

I'm guessing Fender had enough units returned and they decided to finally fix their fault.

And when you call one in to Fender now, rather than ask for a serial #, they ask for you to send in a cell phone video recording. Then they somehow - without any knowledge of the mic or the recording level or anything - decide whether the hiss on the recording is loud enough to constitute a problem.
