BOSS Katana MKIII

no none of them come with it, at 299 it's a 4 channel with full wired edit access, they needed to keep the cheap one under that price point. only reason most others have bluetooth is cause most others don't even have knobs, no other way to use it without the app
Keeping the asking price down has to be the ultimate reason. I have to admit that playing along to a recording through a combo amp is so unpleasant I would probably only be buying that dongle to be able to edit wirelessly.

So what's the general verdict on the Gen3 by now? Ordered the 100 (1x12) and it sits here. It's fun. Played a short rehearsal with it at school and will use it at a school gig tomorrow.

Things I dislike:
- No tuner. It's digital already. Why not built-in tuner? Some said "Then you'll get a ugly display!". Nah, many amps do this with some LEDs of the effects or whatever. Red-Green-Red. Nothing for a restringing, but enough for a quick tune inbetween songs
- I don't get the effects by now... What effects are in it, at all? Page 12 of the reference manual (dl from boss) confused me more, than it helped. Hooked the amp up (after doing an update) and there I could alter all those green/orange/red effects, but... I don't know. I knew the Helix in and out in like 2 hours and this still confuses me
- Nickel and diming like Apple. It's a nice base, but any other thing is an extra. Bluetooth? 50€$ please. A 5 way switch? 100+ (at least in Europe). At least it comes with a cable. I have a Boss FS6 here, but I dislike, that it only works with batteries. Why the fuck? Also no TRS-TRS cable here. Why not include the BT thing? Did anybody ever say "Nah, I hate Bluetooth. I DON'T want to set up my tones pretty quick with my smartphone/tablet. I want it the difficult way via USB-C!!!"

That said the rehearsal I played was another teacher with an acoustic and me with a Strat with this (and students). It sounded quite nice and I basically had a rhythm with neck-middle and a lead with neck pu. Haven't had the time by now to REALLY turn it up and see how it sounds for some hard and heavy stuff.

Question: The Line Out is a 6.3 jack. Has anybody ever tried using this into a mixer for the FOH and the amp itself als monitor? Will use (or: want to use) this tomorrow. Just clean and eob playing.

My 60 something cousin has a 100 watt Katana and a tiny Blackstar. I had to bite
my tongue, lie, and tell him his ass didn't look fat in his new dress. :idk

Seriously, though. He has every imaginable tone he'd want at his fingertips. Maybe
he'll show me his Positive Grid Bias next time we hang out. :sofa
