This dude belongs here...

He posted a big thing on Facebook recently that I didn’t really agree with saying local bands should rarely play out. Which I definitely don’t agree with but that also has a lot to do with context . I guess I should view that from the lens of a metal band that’s largely playing the same setlist. Definitely genre specific tho…. A jam band that’s always playing a completely different set is kind of in a different category

But regardless I have nothing but love and respect for the dude

I think he was saying not to overplay your market which I agree on. He's in Erie Pa which isn't huge kinda like where I'm at in Mi. Maybe bigger cities are different or maybe its more of HC thing but constantly playing the same spots w the same bands all the time is not good for anyone. Not sure if he said this but I would say a better use of your time would be to go see other local bands instead. Helps w community and getting inspired. Lots of ppl only go out when they're playing

Agreed on oversaturation…. Accidentally booked to gigs a week apart in Denver a back in may (in fairness I thought I was booking in a different market for one of the shows because there’s two venues with the same name lol) I felt really bashful and embarrassed about it but both shows actually had great attendance

Typically we try and rotate through different markets across the front range and definitely no more than 1 show per month in the same market… and if possible have the rotation cycle making it more spread out than that even

Denver is a pretty big market all the same though

This x100! Some genres and bands are best live and the more they play live the better they get. If there is little improvisation and you are playing the same set to the same backing track or drum click then it obviously can get stale.
Agreed. Also tying into the don't play local all the time. I've heard that often and agree to an extent.

Oversaturation depends on your scene in all honesty. I think in the 90s you could get away with that, especially where I grew up. The local scene was pretty insane but times are different now.

If you're lucky and good enough and have an amazing band that people will come see no matter what, there is no such thing as oversaturation.

Extreme example, if Metallica played the whiskey or something and only the whiskey. They will fill those seats every single night until the end of time more than likely. Very unrealistic and delusional individual, don't listen to me ;p

He must not post here often. I sent him a PM in May asking if he still had an amp available for sale. The amp is listed in that Craigslist post.

Never heard back.
He used to post a ton of SSO but I haven't seen him on the forums much since his channel took off. You can catch him on Facebook quite a bit, though.

Just to be clear I've got no ill will towards the guy. I found the amp I was looking for and got a deal elsewhere, all is good, just trying to tame expectations in case anybody starts calling dibs on stuff in the thread lol. :D
I just picked up that snake skin SLO on the list last week! I don’t think he spends much time here these days, so for anyone interested, I would try his IG first! Kyle’s a super nice dude to deal with. He shipped it out the same day once we settled up.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for his next liquidation!

I’ve got several customers with at least that and 300 + guitars . We also have our very own “Dave” or Harley AliExpress Benton as most people know him. He seems to be locked in a basement with this kind of quantity of stuff.

Its probably a toss up between Kyle and Tom (submancometh) as far as the most amps I've ever seen owned by one person.

I didn’t see the post but I’ve run into issues where we’ve burned out our immediate area by playing too often in the same or similar venues. It was kind of a double-edged sword; my former guitarist and I both worked in restaurants and could get 30-40 people each from just work to show up to gigs, which definitely got us booked/paid better, but 3 shows in 3 weeks in a row seemed to be the burnout point where we’d lose about 25% of people by the 3rd gig and about 75% by the 4th.

My band had a house gig for about 4 1/2 years back in the nineties. We started at four nights a week and eventually dropped Wednesdays, but we were there every single weekend, and the place was always close to capacity on Fridays & Saturdays. Lots of regulars, but also plenty of new people coming and going over the duration.

Yep, good player and awesome person. He always used the ISP vector SL in his vids. His basement was/is the equivalent to a small guitar shop. Possibly even more gear then Kyle, absolute insanity.
I managed to figure out which video I saw. It's a Katana 100 head video from 8 years ago lol.
