Yeah, that came up on local Craigslist for $1000. Couldn’t pass it up. It was my favorite amp until I got the Hughes & Kettner.

I’ve become a little averse to high gainers in an open back for my personal needs, but making the roadster combos closed back v smart, I’d keep it as is too

I have a Trem-O-Verb, too, so I can direct compare and it makes a HUGE
difference. You are right.

Heck, the V30s are far more palatable to my ears for sure in a closed back
configuration. Kind of cool how Mesa made the Roadster Combo enclosure.

I've had it for about 10 years now. It's been in storage for about half that time, because I no longer need a Big Dumb Amp, but it's possibly one of the greatest Big Dumb Amps ever made so I don't want to sell it Which ones have you had / do you have?

I had a VHT Pitbull 50 2x12 in the early 2000’s that clocked in at 84lbs (just short of 40 kilos). Cariied that glorious beast to weekly gigs and rehearsals for a couple years. This one here isn’t mine, but is exactly the same…

A former bandmate and I shared that exact bass cab. Damn it was heavy.


Now my big dummies are a Twin Reverb and a Carvin Legacy combo. 85 and 100W respectively.
Also have an old 70W Guild, tube power amp head that's heavy enough -- and that's without a head shell.
I used to own a 120W Peavey Duel Two Twelve combo that was heavy af too.

Here’s one I used to have. Sold it to someone in 2020 who came down from Lansing to pick it up. Dude was super geeked about it. Great amp too. I just preferred the heads I used to have.



And quite possibly the biggest, dumbest amp setup I ever owned. Don’t have it anymore but it was massive.
