Anyone else getting sick of GAS?

I think living in the age of instant gratification has had a very negative impact on people. I learned to play the guitar by sitting down with a record player, and shortly after that a CD player, and plugging away until I learned the song. And when I did, there was a feeling of accomplishment that excited me about learning the next one. Now, all you have to do is go online and there are hundreds of tutorials out there that show you exactly what to do. While there is still some sense of accomplishment, I honestly believe that the harder something is to achieve, the greater the sense of reward once you finally do achieve it.
Also, there are alot of guitarists making videos that you can see playing songs, but their technique is quite bad, they lack articulations, vibrato. They are just doing the bare minimum of plucking the notes in time.

There are advantages to taking the long, hard road.

You mean we have to work it?? :idk

It's still not easy for me to play guitar, or sing, or do anything musically related.
It's all a grind. A glorious, never-ending. want to impale yourself, delight that
rewards time on task and effort. Just like Life was meant to be. :beer

Bingo. The harder the effort, the greater the reward once accomplished, and the greater the boost to our confidence and overall happiness. So now we have people who don't want to work hard at anything, and are denying themselves that mental boost that comes with accomplishing things. No wonder so many people are fucked in the head these days.

You can see that just walking into any Guitar Center. People are mostly playing the right notes, but their timing and phrasing is all over the place.

As opposed to 30 years ago when they were playing the wrong notes and timing and phrasing were all over the place…

There are no short cuts. Nobody gets good at guitar without sitting down and playing along with the record for hours and hours. Getting to the right notes may come a little faster/easier now, but sounding good still takes time and work and is still rewarding.

There are plenty of people that either won’t be willing to put in the time, don’t hear where they are off and won’t correct it, or whatever - that’s the same as it ever was. Same as it ever was, there are still some that stick with it and play with a voice.

No GAS here my current gear does everything I could want or dream of, yes that center is the FM9 and my PowerCabs, they have totally eliminated most of my GAS, mind you ill Get GAS for an axe if its required for what i want to achieve

Life is hard.

Plan Accordingly.

I like gear! Did I really need every item I've bought over the years? No. By far! Did some of the acquisitions make me play more guitar than I would otherwise do? Definitely! Am I inspired by the gear I'm currently using? Yes! Do I have many regrets (gear wise)? Not really. I've sold a lot of gear that didn't fit the bill. I've taken my losses, but nothing extreme. I'm more worried about a few pieces of gear I should never have sold. And my collection is modest in comparison to others

I guess I'm fine.

Do I still have money in my bank account? No! Do I care? No!

Our first studio was a stereo with a mic in. We had a split mic … cd press play play and at the same time press “record” on the tape. 5 minutes of one take was what we had. If anybody fucked up in the 3rd verse.. we had to start over.

We did this for years until cool edit came out.

I was gonna say i bet you for sure will buy the bluamp x… seems you are pretty jazzed on it even at 2k+
The price doesn't concern me much. I know it will sound great. I'm not sold on how it operates and what fx it will have at release is not known. That's why I need to see more.
