Anyone else getting sick of GAS?

If your impulse control is that bad; it's probably time to take a break.

Only that now we can see them with it. And every time we open our browser we are accosted by it.

This is like comparing Playboy magazing to tiktok/OnlyFans.
Are you speaking from personal experience or telling us what you think is true about people you don't know?

All I can say is for myself -- YouTubers don't impact me in the least in terms of feeling bad about myself/enabling me to do things I probably shouldn't do gear wise. Forums, on occasion, can give me a skewed perspective in terms of how much gear the "average" person has/collects. My bank account, my brain, my wife, and knowing "normal" people and "gear hoarders" IRL all act as a very, very well weighted counterbalance to that.

I get the sentiment, but you can stay away from the things that make you susceptible, and you can take responsibility for destructive habits? Most advertising generally out there is either overly sexualized and/or designed to make you feel inadequate without a particular product. We all fall victim to it at some point, but the best remedy is to shut it off, or actively pursue something different.

I was going to say. ..its not just advertizing vs self esteem or self control.

Just for instance... if someone has a porn addiction and they go to youtube to learn how to change the oil in their car, they get a page full of bikini girl popup ads or youtube fitness influencer suggestions, just girls doing yoga in stretchy pants, and that creates a very dangerous situation. Even if they have age filters set, it still crops up in video games and general media.

And the guitar gear videos, or ads for sports betting are probably just as bad for someone with a spending or gambling addiction.

Its in your face and unlike a catalog you can't just throw it away or turn it off. They are using AI algorithms to make suggestions. They know everything about you, they know more about your temptations than you know about yourself.

Not disagreeing with you. At least you're aware of it. Then it comes down to having self discipline to not fully engage in it. Or, just turn off youtube completely if that's what it takes.

[…] if someone has a porn addiction and they go to youtube to learn how to change the oil in their car, they get a page full of bikini girl popup ads […]
I hate to say it, but you are wrong again. I know someone who knows someone who has heard of someone who occasionally watches porn, but that *cough* person only gets guitar gear influencer stuff presented to him in his YouTube feed.

I can easily ignore about 99% of amps and pedals coming out as "that's cool, don't need it".

But I'm currently considering buying a used Mark V 90. I just have doubts how it will work with my 4x10 GB cab and whether I would be better off just buying something else. I'm very happy with my Amp 1 tones as is, so I truly don't need the Mesa, and even used ones are expensive.

I'll probably wait until NAMM to see more of the BluGuitar Amp X.
I was gonna say i bet you for sure will buy the bluamp x… seems you are pretty jazzed on it even at 2k+

I can 100% confirm that you can play guitar through all the latest modelers.

For me the cause of gas is boredom. The brain starts inventing problems to solve. Like the most versatile guitar for a gig that you won’t play.

The solution is productivity. Having some goal to achieve like learning a song or writing a track or a gig.

Life is hard.

Plan Accordingly.
