What gear from genres much different than your own give you GAS?

I have his "Exegol", which is a Model T pre, and can 100% recommend all of the Kuro stuff. Giulio is a wizard.

Exegol on 18V and using the dedicated line-level output -> BEAST MODE. Superior to competitors like e.g. the Model FeT, imho.

If the T120 is of similar quality (very probably so), it's the closest thing to the real amp, as long as you pair it with a nice power amp - or FX return, whatever.

Feel free to let me know if you have specific questions.
Good to know! I'll probably end up with the Matamp clone. Mainly because the real thing is never going to come up in mere mortal land price wise.

I guess bluegrass is one of my genres as I’ve been learning flatpicking this year, but I really love the aesthetic of a bluegrass band. About as stripped as you can get in terms of gear, no amps pedals or bullshit. I think I’d have a lot of fun letting my inner redneck loose. I hope someday I can get together a bluegrass jam band.

Yeah I wouldn't kick a Matamp out of bed...

There's cool blues amps out there like all the Dumble or Tweed style amps that I know I'd probably enjoy, only to find them just too limited and or even bad for the rock/hard rock stuff I typically play.

With the two BluGuitars and the Mark V, there's not much I'd gain from more amps.
Yes... similar... my tastes overlap with Doom stuff enough that I can likely justify a few 'pieces' they're mostly expensive fuzz boxes that are takes on older stuff... ; although, you can actually play Doom w/ nearly any gear...

For me, the "Dumble-alike" stuff feels interesting due to all the mystique around it but frankly, I am so in the "Rock" wheelhouse that I just don't feel that much "mojo" when comparing stuff in that vein. It all is like "well, it's kinda cool, I guess" when I get my hands on it. But, regardless, reading about that stuff on gear forums makes me want to keep trying the gear out because some folks are so into it and all the mystique and lore is fun. Thankfully, it's always like "meh, I will use the AxeFX amp model or my Syn OS for that stuff" anytime I get to demo that type of gear, so it has never gotten expensive for me.

Now the Hot Rod Marshalls? Ugh, I get sucked into the hype every time and absolutely will buy expensive stuff in that vein on impulse if I do not check myself (and spousal confluct will ensue).

Thankfully, I am loving a couple of my Syn modules for that stuff along with a couple of my amps but it is still hard to resist the new stuff.

No e-drums either!

A Gibson SJ 200 is a big dream of mine I'll never fulfill because I really suck at acoustic guitar.

I don't even like the way they sound, but man, what a stage guitar that would be.

I actually like the overall timbre of an SJ because they cut very well in a dense mix with electric instruments, and they record with very little sonic overhang before you're on to the next note.

So they tend not to add mud or clutter; they simply add rhythmic body and pick attack snap.

However, when I went looking for one, I couldn't find an SJ-200 that satisfied the itch. I love the Collings SJ, but the price had shot up remarkably since I had gotten my last one. So I decided I had other options.

I wound up ordering a Private Stock in that SJ200 direction from PRS in 2013. The body shapes and depth are kinda similar. It's been my only acoustic guitar ever since. I haven't looked at anything else. I really like using it. The guitar's been used on a ton of ads. These Ken Fischer-designed Private Stock PRS models are way underrated. Best acoustic I've ever owned and compares sonically with friends' Olsons, Gurians, etc.

This one has maple back, sides and neck, an ebony fretboard and bridge, and an Adirondack Spruce top, with carbon fiber truss rods. Sounds huge and killer. With the carbon fiber rods, the neck simply doesn't move at all, no matter the season. It's never needed a single trip to the tech.

I was going to order it in natural like most SJs, but the PS team talked me into a blonde-ish stain. Turned out pretty. the top has turned a warmer shade over the years, the sound has very slightly mellowed, but it sounds great to this day.

i really enjoy playing jcm800s even though i never want to sound like that.

i dont think i have a specified GENRE that id be playing outside- but i dont play metal. i think, though, if i were to play a metal amp that i think id dig itd be a fryette or VHT!

I also LOVE Teles, IN OTHER PEOPLES' HANDS AND AMPS
Yes this also for me. Over the years I've always loved the sound and look of a Tele but each of the many times I've owned one I've ended up moving it along pretty quickly. Sure I'll buy another at some point in the future though.

There is lots of gear I love other people using but have no interest in playing. Pretty much all vintage falls in to this. Les Paul’s is another one, look great sound amazing but I hate playing them . I’ve owned at least a dozen, everything too and including an R9 but I get irritated by all the playing issues particularly at the top end and the fact that I way prefer a 25.5” scale . And as soon as a good trade shows up the first thing out the door is the LP.

Trem/Vibrato/Vibe, and like say anything Joey Landreth use, he sounds amazing and I don't play anything like that, and I doesn't even care all that much about the music he plays. :bonk

I'm not really sure that I GAS for anything at all, much less any genre that i dont really have an interest in.
Think I might have GAS for one Axe for different tuning but thats pretty much the extent of it

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’d make the most kindergarten sounds using these but I’d have a blast

I was sitting here thinking, "Lucky me, I never GAS for anything outside my little niche", and then this photo reminded me that I'm full of s***. :facepalm I have almost no use for clever clever semi-multi-FX pedals. (I'm almost always running a full-sized modeler/MFX unit, or a DAW, or both.) But pedals like this one always grab my attention. I've nearly purchased a Chroma Console countless times, but it's just expensive enough for me to keep my wits about me. :D

See also: modular synths even though I don't really play keys (and don't particularly like the sound of modular synths); control surfaces (Ableton Push, NI Launchpad, etc.) better-suited to DJs than guitarists; all the crap Teenage Engineering tries to sell me even though it costs a million dollars to go "bloop"; extra oddball stompboxes by the likes of Alexander Pedals, willfully obtuse yet somehow irresistible... :idk

All these toys look infectiously fun - but I seldom (if ever) have a practical use for them.

I get pulled down the same kind of rabbit holes and then will occasionally will stumble into something that the same people praising how inspiring the limitations of tge OP1 are also get excited about something tmTHIS obviously stupid and it brings me back down to reality:
