Who are the "Nicklebacks" of Metal?

I couldn't name one song from 99% of the bands listed in this thread. :rofl
I'm not into as much metal these days, very selective, and definitely don't care for bubblegum metal.

. They're currently touring Europe and selling out arenas everywhere, it's insane.
Am I missing something or does it seem like any rando 3-5 musicians who have a metal or metal adjacent album out can tour Europe and play to sold out arenas right now?

Crazy how much better the music world in Europe is than here. Stupid US and the watered down hip hop/pop/corporate rock garbage that dominates here…

:Boo

Not really, IMHO. We see a lot of rock bands coming through town these days, but your arena stadiums are reserved for the likes of Metallica; most end up playing smaller venues.

Which makes Volbeat's success the more puzzling to me.

Just when I thought I could believe everything I see on the internet. :idk

For some reason it seems like every time I turn around someone is sending me a link to some rando band playing in front of 100k people. Granted, lots of the bands Ive heard of, but a lot I’ve not. Or, maybe they’re in the Five Finger Butt Punch genre and I block em from my memory 😂

I do like some Chevelle. But not the vibe I’m looking for when I’m throwing around heavy weights. I’ll have to check out their latest album outside of the gym.

Ensiferum’s Victory Songs sounds good. Kind of feels like I’m in a heavy battle scene in a video game like Diablo or Elder Scrolls or something lol.

Last couple days been really digging Hatebreed. The speed, aggressiveness, vocals, and lyrics all perfect for the gym.

LoG has been good too.

I picked a random metal playlist today that had some Mudvayne, Meshuggah, Rammstein, Machine Head, KsE, LoG, Bullet for my Valentine and a bunch of other stuff I didn’t get to. But that was a pretty good listen.

Europe just allows for a lot of "Let's go through this country to get to that one" touring as flights between countries are not that expensive or long, or you can drive to some of the adjacent countries in central Europe.

With the Russian border closed, a lot of bands stopped coming to Finland unfortunately as it's no longer a good layover towards Asia.

But a lot of these bands are not playing sold out stadiums. That's still reserved for big well known acts. But you can build an "European tour" from playing a lot of clubs too.

rather than wear cargo shorts and black T-shirts.

I feel bad for Tremonti - by all accounts, a great guy, and an insanely talented guitar player. But most of his music output bores me to death.

I caught Tremonti as a supporting act last year and couldn't shake the feeling he needs a real band around to really thrive.

The Tremonti stuff is my favorite stuff he's done, outside of maybe 2 Alter Bridge tunes but even then, I haven't returned to the first album he did and I think he's got a couple of them now. Always waiting for a tune from either Tremonti or AB to really hit me, I feel either one is equally capable of getting me hooked with an earworm but it never happens.

Overseas once, a guy kept playing Nickelback every single god damn day. I couldn’t handle it. I yelled “Hey Joe! Turn that shit off before I blow my fuckin brains out!” I pointed my 9mil at my head (unloaded lol) and my boss caught me doing that. As punishment I had to write a fake letter to my family that I accidentally killed myself over Nickelback. #TrueStory

I think this is literally the only one which did it for me.
