Boston - Third Stage tour in 1987 at the Philadelphia Spectrum, way far in the back. I was 12 and it was so unbelievably loud, and freakin’ awesome. I had a lot of “I can’t believe this is real” moments.
It wasn't my first show, but saw them in 81 at the tail end of the Exit...Stage Left tour, which was short of an extension of MP. Life changing experience.1981 RUSH Moving pictures = mind blown!
I'm assuming Deicide wasn't on this tourMy first concert was on 04-17-1996. White Heart and Petra were on tour with Grammatrain and Johnny Q. Public as the opening acts. I was with my dad and it was at the University of Portland campus in Portland, OR. I would have been nine years old at the time.
I remember not liking Johnny Q. Public, but Grammatrain was really good. I bought their albums and still enjoy their music. White Heart's set was the highlight. They were a super tight band.
I will be kind of shocked if anyone on this forum has heard of any of these bands.
I saw this same tour only GnR was replaced by Megadeth. The level of happy I was at that replacement could not be emphasized enough. Then they played likeIron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son tour. Hurricane opened up. Was supposed to be GnR but I think Axl messed his voice up or something.
He never could last more than 3 songs.… I think Axl messed his voice up or something.
No SFSGSW era. Definitely hungover/still drunk and/or doped up.That would have been the Peace Sells era, right? They were most likely heavily doped and on the verge of breaking up at that time.
That’s right. I actually did like that album but it wasn’t the same as the Chris/Gar era.No SFSGSW era. Definitely hungover/still drunk and/or doped up.
Holy shit! This is the original lineup touring for Fugazi?!?!? Goddamn this is a lot of envy (dripping shades of green?) to process first thing in the morning.Marillion, December 1984
Hammersmith Odeon, London
Yes, gentlemen: full-on Prog with much lyrical embellishment. I was 14.
Most of the crowd were much bigger than me; that is to say, fully grown adults. I suppose at least half of them smoked. Like all gigs back then, it stank of smoke and beer. Pretty exciting for a teenager to be with a big roaring crowd like that.
Got my first tour t-shirt![]()
Couple of duds on this album but overall; it's great. The production sucks. I would like to take a listen to a remaster, if Dave got around to fixing it here years back when he did those remasters. That’s right. I actually did like that album but it wasn’t the same as the Chris/Gar era.
