I randomly popped on the lollapalooza stream on Hulu…. Some crazy awesome instrumental fusion shit was going down…. I was so confused… looked up the band name in the top corner…. “BOYNEXTDOOR” came up as boy and/k pop on Google. Super baffled

After a few minutes more of sick ass fusion shredding… the actual “group” came out. I guess The boy band dipped from the stage to let the backing band shred for a bit :rofl

Kept watching the rest of the set. Once the actual “group” returned to stage definitely very much choreographed boy band k pop music. But the fact that they had a full band instead of tracks kept me watching…. lol

Would love to hear a fusion project from the backing band

Star Trek Voyager. Finished seasons 1 and 2, now heading into 3. Like others series in the franchise, some episodes are ordinary but others are borderline on the profound.

Good example of how futuristic sci-fi can provide commentary and even criticism of the present socio-political realities without ruffling too many feathers. Rod Serling way back in the 1960s pioneered that on the TV.

Watched a couple of oddball flicks over the weekend.

1. The Penguin Lessons. About a teacher (Steve Coogan) in the mid 70s who goes over to Argentina to teach english and ends up rescuing a penguin. It's heart warming to a degree that would normally make me barf but the penguin is so sweet that it was a good break from the Human Centipede marathon :wat:rofl

2. Roman J. Israel, Esq. Directed by guy who did Nightcrawler which I loved. Denzel stars as a displaced lawyer that is definitely on the spectrum. Colin Farell (sp?) is his slick new boss that comes in and take him in. Great performances as always from these two as always but just a good uplifting vibe overall and very entertaining.

Just started the Institute (based on the Stephen King book).

Loved the book.

So far the series is looking good (only one episode in). Casting is great.

Watched Brazil, the director’s cut.

This movie was like one of those long and vivid dreams where you don’t really know where you are or who anyone is, and you keep changing settings unexpectedly, but you don’t really question it. Maybe the gummies I ate contributed to my confusion but I did enjoy it and it all came together for me towards the end. I’m exaggerating a little bit, I got it but it was definitely strange. Terry Gilliam is a great director.

We watched Tremors 3 last night. It was fun! Better than the 2nd one I reckon!

Now we might have to find the rest of the sequels...

Watched the new Karate Kid: Legends movie last night. Lead actor did a great job as did Jackie Chan and Macchio. Definitely had more than a little vibe from Cobra Kai but also oddly enough reminded me a bit of the first Raimi Spiderman which is a great thing in my book.

Initial score of modern mope pop or wtfever that was was gross and the gigaChad dojo villain crew was about as paperthin and underdeveloped as you could get but overall; hit me in the feels as per Karate Kid usual. If you like the series; give it a go.

A little late to the party, but we finished No Good Deed. I liked it. It probably could have been 1 or 2 episodes shorter, but still enjoyable.

Last night we watched "Southern Fried Lies". That is, something, lol. VERY Interesting.

We went to see the new Naked Gun movie.

It's a mixed bag. I think it captures the vibe of the originals reasonably well.

It has some good jokes in it, but it feels like it needed a whole extra act to wrap it up properly. It has some good recurring gags but could have used a lot more happening in the background like the original movies have.

I need to rewatch the originals but I think part of why they feel right is that they have tighter editing. It makes a surprisingly big difference to how some jokes land.

I hope Naked Gun leads to some sort of resurgency of this style of comedy, because we certainly don't have enough of it.

We are going to this either tonight or tomorrow. I fully expect to feel the same way about it as you did but I am very much looking forward to it!

Just finished the first season of Condor. It’s based of the book/movie 6/3 Days of the Condor from the 70s. Good stuff if you’re into CIA/spy v spy stories.
