Video Games

Apologies for not ready earlier posts but trying to avoid spoilers.

About 5 hours into the OG Death Stranding and I'm having a fun time. A very different game for sure! I'll be curious to see how the gameplay evolves.

I've built so many roads at this point.

The problem is that it doesn't really require you to diversify your travels. The only inconvenience of the pickup offloader is that you have to get out to pick up chiral crystals from the ground. Otherwise you can just ride it and pickup everything until it's too full, and it can fit a ton of stuff!

E.g the area near the Data Scientist seems like it would be "use something other than Pickup Offloader until you build some roads" but that car still fits through every crevice in there.

I wish they had left out the car and just had you use something smaller with a bunch of floating carriers attached to it.

Yeah that's one of the few areas I've encountered so far that really needs a different approach, and I wish there were more like that. I also built a catapult on both sides for easy travel.

Guns, lots of guns! Atm I roll with a whole arsenal:
  • A few packs of Blood grenades.
  • Silenced tranquilizer sniper rifle. Great for human enemies.
  • SL Machine Pistol. It's fast and accurate so it's good for humanoid enemies.
  • Machine gun Lv2. Has tons of bullets.
  • LW Shotgun Lv2. Very powerful at close range and has a grenade launcher.
  • A couple of Ghost Blades because they are super effective against mechs at close range.
I just got the EX grenade which seems to be some sort of Pokemon ball type thing? Haven't tried it yet.

I recently kicked Neil Vana's ass (again) with just the kung fu moves you learn from the Pizza Chef. They are a bit tough to pull off because the windup is so long but they're fun!

At some point, you’ll be able to pick up the chiral crystals from the off roader as well!

Hell, at this point I have 2 fully loaded off roaders on opposite sides of the map so I can hop between them, 5 batteries and the anti-gravity device.

I only have 2 sections of road to finish before I head to the South area, which I’ll probably get into tonight. All I did was build and do the sub deliveries last night. I never complete a game that allows me to beat it before every objective is finished, I might give that a shot with this one. And the rail line is just waiting for me to get to the South Delivery facility and that’ll be completed.

All that said about the vehicles, it’s still taken me 2 weeks to get this far into the game, of almost nightly playing.

I also have not checked out the subreddit on this at all since I started playing. My hunch is there’s something compelling that’ll happen later in the game, at least I hope. The first game was so confusing I had to play it 3x to get a grasp on everything happening, but this one hasn’t added onto that much at all.

Oh….and the damn side missions with Neil or the first games mystery man drive me nuts. I can’t stand dream sequences in movies/TV and this is basically a video game version of that. Felt a bit cheap doing the same thing in this game.

It definitely picks up! I certainly miss the pacing of that game in comparison to the sequel. The first one you get some crazy shit then a period of calm, then crazier shit then more calm, the new one tends to throw ya in the deep end right away, while somehow being easier to play than the first.

Also, dont think it’ll spoil much, but you can just beat the shit out of the MULEs and be done with them. They never attack more than one at a time and they’re slow AF. I have no problems walking into a MULE territory without a single weapon on me and laying them all out rather quickly. It’s the 2nd set of MULES you need to look out for in the OG DS.

Is it generally good practice to actually delivery the lost goods to their destination or will entrusting them suffice?

For sure. You essentially get about half the amount of points when you Entrust it and points count towards your Porter Grade which determines how much you can carry as well as your stamina and blood levels.

I generally only entrust it when I screw myself on cargo space....which generally happens because the Sticky Cannon is grabbing lost loot!

It helps having a list of which contact gives you what for a gift, makes the whole entrusting thing a much easier decision to make. Once they're done giving you stuff it's not nearly as enjoyable to deliver shit and I almost feel taken advantage of at times. :rofl

Nice. I'm still walking but I see a bike near me I'll be excited to check out 😂 just ran into the first forced encounter of the MULES. Good to know they aren't overly difficult.

My approach is to entrust if it's like halfway across the map and I know I won't be going back anytime soon. Once a bunker is on the 5th star I pretty much stop picking up anything going there as the final reward is often not worth it.

I'll probably approach it the same way at a certain point. Pretty sure I'm done getting the majority of gifts from contacts, I've mostly been doing it because their bunkers have been in the vicinity of a road I'm building or a delivery center I'm sending materials to.

DICE are promising to return to former glory with this one. Remains to be seen, but they nailed the trailer.

Man, I really hope this one's good. All most fans want (that I can see online) is a "new" version of BF3 or 4. If they can actually deliver this time and give us a straight-up classic BF game then I'll be pretty happy. Don't reinvent every system, just give us the old game with new maps and "stuff". :idk
