Video Games

I think SNES games may be my favorite era and I never had a GBA so there's a lot of games on that system that look worth playing!

I wish they would put out SOTN for Switch, maybe that will be a forthcoming release. I've heard that's a Mount Rushmore Metroidvania game along with Super Metroid which is one of my all time favorites.

Have you played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night? Made by the same director who did SOTN and it is on all systems

It's essentially SOTN 2 and it's fucking awesome

I have not, but will add it to my list! Looks really cool!

A couple of things I liked about MHW.

Seamless monster hunting. You just keep playing the map and missions appear on it making it semi open world. If you see a monster you can attack it and when you take off enough damage it turns into a quest and you can call in others.

Multiplayer is so fast and smooth. When you answer an SOS you are playing in seconds.

Controls have been streamlined.

And, my favourite, you can now carry two weapons!

Ya I played through it's mission last night and then did the additional hunt for the pack of big lion bear things

Only played solo but still really enjoyed it. Even though it's gonna take me a while to wrap my head around the controls again lol

Really wish I could swap the functions of the square and circle buttons but didn't seem like it was an option?

Would rather have my two attacks be square and triangle

I need a tip for game that I might play casually. Preferably for Android tablets, but in case nothing proper exists, I'd go with the Macbook as well.

So, I liked to play "Age of Empires II - the Age of Kings" way back in the days and would really love to have something similar. As in not too complexed, yet a tad challenging, so you could achieve your goals in different ways and play multiple times. Defenitely needs no fancy graphics or so.
Important: No in-app-purchase nonsense unless it's permanent to get the full deal. I defenitely won't buy virtual coins, diamonds, wizardry, dogs, monsters or anything like that. Also: Should be single player and not need online access.

Any tips welcomed!

I got hooked on Subnautica recently and haven’t been able to stop. For me it feels like a great balance between the “here you go, survive without guidance” and “we will give you small bits and piecec for you to puzzle together to understand what’s going on”.

I like they gave it a good story that slowly evolves with lore and that the game points towards finding it. Def not as annoyingly subtle as Souls games. Elden Rings “wtf is really going on?” Comes to mind.

Anyhow, it’s nice relaxing game, and sometimes hard. Some evenings i just explore and collect stuff for fun, managing resources like materials and batteries, maybe build on the base for pure fun. Sometimes i follow up on the lore. The sci-fi lore/story is actually quite good here.

Also, good headphones is a must for this game as it has a very cool sound palette with all the water and noises that is out there.

I will definitely try Subnautica 2 when it comes.

I'm working through Rune Factory 3 Special, which is pretty limited for gameplay and story but a nice distraction.

I did see a bunch of Switch games go on sale though so will have to check on those.

Picked up the Blasphemous 2 DLC over the weekend but have only spent about an hour-ish in it so far

I've been playing Luigi's Mansion 2 remake on Switch. It's fun! Not quite as good as 3, but still a lot of fun.

Late, but tips for Android (tablet). Sadly I am no AOE fan, so I can't tell you what else plays like that:

- Northgard (Strategy)
- Loop Hero (Old School kinda game)
- Balatro (Just the GOTY 2024 and I don't even like card games)
- Stardew Valley (just for chilling)

All paid games. I don't play free to play stuff.

I'll happily pay in case I like it. I hate permament in-app-purchases and in-game ads as much as it gets.

Just saw, there's also Bad North (strategy, never played it) and also the Total War series on Android. I mean on PC Total War was the total banger back then. Haven't played a TW game since end 2000s though.

Let me know what you have tried. My main Android game atm is Balatro. It just fits between 2 diapers.

This is the game I was hoping Space Marine 2 would be. A deep, co-op, horde shooter with tons of optimisation.

Just released on PS5 after two years and a number of updates later. All time reviews on Steam still say mixed as it never recovered from its poor lauch reception but whatever it was then it is a far cry from it now.

I've been playing all week and still just messing around and experimenting. I haven't even chosen what class I want to specialise in and take to higher levels. At this point in SM2 I'd already felt like I did everything and stopped playing.
