Video Games

I had a feeling there was more stuff to uncover, there are quite a few locked doors/inaccessible areas still on my map...
It gets a lot more challenging if you want to get to the true ending, but I feel it's worth it. The final boss was crazy hard until I figured out how to beat it after like two weeks of trying on and off :rofl

I rarely give up on really good games but I came pretty close with this one.

Oh damn, well I'll take that into account. I'm not against looking up help when I really hit a wall in games like this. There are a few things I'm still curious about but haven't looked up to avoid spoilers - like apparently there are some kind of spells, but haven't found anyway to unlock those yet so there seem to be big parts I'm missing/have yet to discover :ROFLMAO:

Between the platforming and ability to win things different ways it brought back a lot of my old Mega Man memories where you could beat bosses with different weapons but some are more effective than others etc. The formula holds up!

I seem to use mine primarily for purposes of carrying it from room to room and occasionally charging it. :idk

As I said before, it doesn't really travel all that well (and neither do I). Nor is it my first choice when I'm at home and there's a big TV right there. So I don't know. I guess it might eventually prove useful when I want to pick up something quick and steal 10 minutes from whatever I'm supposed to be doing... but I have to find the right game to fit the bill. (Nioh is a little bit too precious and menu-heavy for this platform, I think.) I took the bait ponied up for the PS+ Grey Poupon tier - I guess that increases my odds somewhat.

My pet peeve with the design (in spite of the otherwise excellent ergonomics): when I hold it in my hands at an angle that feels natural, the screen is pitched about 20 degrees too high - toward the ceiling and away from my, ya know, eyeballs. 9 times out of 10, it points directly at a skylight or a lightbulb such that I can't see a damned thing. Finding a way to position the thing that doesn't feel like I'm going to drop it, and doesn't demand I play by sense of smell, is a constant mini-game in itself.

I don't think USB-C to HDMI will be supported. Sony wouldn't want to poach PS5 sales like that, and the Portal is running at a much lower resolution regardless.
I was kidding about the usb-C part

Just to not scare you away from it: the hair pullingly difficult part was the final boss. Otherwise it was fairly challenging at times and it introduced really different challenges from what you're used to, so it can be a bit of a shock :roflBut it's doable.

Just the basic difficulty level in Silksong is so much higher, but I also think it's a much more polished game. The gameplay is a lot more fluid as well IMO

Finished up Still Wakes the Deep. Great psychological/body horror mashup. Excellent ending.

Been watching Dead Space remake sit at 79.99 on the PS Store. Um; nope? Saw it for $17.99 last night and ended up snagging it. Pretty killer so far \m/

It's been on Game Pass forever. Don't get me started. :D
I think (?) I have a 360 disc of it (?) from back in the day? I don't have a working XBox anymore so it's collecting dust. Like most all of my gaming hardware that sat ignored after the boys all moved out years ago until my recent PS5 spending spree.

I actually meant that the remake was on Game Pass, and "don't get me started" on PS+ by contrast. Sony will milk a game dry before they eventually discount it by 10 bucks, or put it on PS+. Meanwhile half those games are on Game Pass on day one.

(Nintendo's even worse. If you want anything Mario-related, just resign yourself to the fact that you're paying retail.)

Plugging away through Dead Space still. Still digging it :satan

On the other end of the spectrum; saw a cool indie game where it's basically Steamboat Willy as a gangster. Shoot 'em up, FPS run and gun with some fun looking puzzle stuff?

This and Pragmata are both on my to-do list, after reading positive reviews/ previews on Eurogamer.

You've got me thinking I should really try Dead Space. The original was well-received and so was the remake. But I'm still slogging my way through Nioh 3, and I don't want to confuse my muscle memory until that's (please just make it end) over with.

Man, I loved Nioh 1 and 2 but 3 is just broken. I don't know if I'm over-leveled or what - and if I am, I blame the whole open world, "do whatever you want until you just can't stand it anymore" thing, which brings out the worst of my completist tendencies. The story is completely inane, so I figured the "object" of the game was to run around and hoover up every single icon on the map. Later, I discovered axes, and then the crucible skill that makes axes massively OP, then the matched armor set that makes axe-wielders untouchable... and at that moment the game should have thrown up a "YOU WIN!" message and rolled credits. I've been coasting through ever since, occasionally stopping to parse through my list of new loot like I'm organizing my email. (It is exactly like being at work organizing my email. "This is part of a matched set; better lock it and unlock all the identical but lower-level items" is basically like finding the last email in a thread and then ferreting out and deleting the redundant ones that precede it. "Not part of a matched set, pointless" is like double-checking that an email doesn't have any attachments before you delete it.)

It's a bit repetitive. Certainly. And I definitely play on easiest mode and look up how to beat a section if I haven't figured it out in 10-15 minutes of play time :bag Maybe it's my mind telling me what I think it wants to hear but it does look like an old game with a fresh coat of paint as far as the overall phsyics of things. You bludgeon the gross space baddies and their parts and entrails drag along the ground with your movements in weird sorts of ways

I am almost anti-completist to a fault on these initial game playthroughs. I know I am missing things but the OCD need to "finish the game" always trumps any side quest desires? I am ok with it I think, given that I've mainly skipped gaming these past decades. Nioh looks cool! I played through Onimusha 2(?) years ago on the PS2 (iirc) and it was a great time :satan

Finally finished Crimson Desert yesterday

It's got some gameplay/pacing/direction issues for sure but was a very fun time overall

Now I wait for Saros :geek:

I've got that thing where I want to know every nook and cranny of a game - partly because I like exploration, and partly because I'm opinionated AF and I figure I ought to have seen the entire game before I pass judgment. :D Lately I'm more inclined to just drop a game altogether if I'm not enjoying it, but if I intend to finish a game, I'm probably going to pick up every single rock, antidote, etc. even if I've never used one.

Nioh 3 has finally done me in, though. I'm literally sprinting across maps just praying for the game to end. (If anything gets in my way, I press my +2 Triangle Button of Doom.) It's insanely big in the most pointless and repetitive way.

I am still a Nioh fan overall, but I think they started with a great, slightly complicated game in Nioh 1 and they've been doubling down and overcomplicating with every iteration since. Team Ninja is the dev that doesn't know when to say when.

I can see the draw of FINISHING EVERYTHING. I am "new" enough though where it's a bit easier for me to not be hard on myself. Considering I am already having level 10 tourettes playing most of these games on "invalid difficulty" mode as is :rofl

For me to 100% Platinum a game it has to either be a complete masterpiece game I *cannot* stop playing, or one that I enjoy that has very natural achievement progression (in other words - chances are you'll get the plat just from completing the game)

I'm still kind of developing my own scale. Pretty much always going to be horror-adjacent. I need some actual content/cut scenes tying the stories together but not too much where I feeling like I need to skip parts my first time through.

I’ve yet to 100% a game, every time I say I’m going to I beat the game way before getting to all the little stuff and completely lose the desire to go collect 300 fruit loops in the sky or whatever the widget is.

Once I got into the settlement building on Fallout I stopped progressing in the game because building crazy shit is too much fun, like putting a shooting range in front of all the beds people sleep in, or building up a settlement to 20+ settlers then removing all the resources except a bar and a slot machine, or the Nuka Cola that makes them crazy.

I actually forgot there was a story to the game for about a week. Usually I’ll play a game the normal way first, but the mods on this are way too much fun and I really hope more console games allow for this. I’m not in god mode but close enough and I gave myself almost infinite materials for the settlements so I can just go nuts building stuff.
