Video Games

Finished Ghost of Yotei. Had heard many bad things about the game -- from the supposed need for weapon switching to the lacklustre story. It appears some gamers are also very, very upset you get to play as a woman who isn't sexualised to hell and back. Quite predictable.

I liked the story. There's some of the usual tropes you expect from revenge narratives, but the main character has bucket loads of personality. And the music does its part; I will be listening to the soundtrack for time to come.

The combat is visceral, brutal and often times challenging enough on normal mode. The additions of guns and the kusurigama work nicely and feel great to use.

Stealth remains mostly the same -- quite simple -- but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Probably part of this is the damn satisfying finishers. Did not even upgrade the finisher speed, not to loose out on the animations.

I may start a new game +. It will be the first time I do so for an open world setting.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that I got all the trophies on PS. Yeah it wasnt some mind blowing game but does every game need to be to be enjoyable?

I did switch to Japanese audio with English sub though and I really think that helped with the immersion.

I did the same for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, felt really dumb in English lol

I tried doing some gaming over the holiday break. We have a cabinet full of games from all sorts of platforms/eras and bunch of different consoles all in various states of operation from years of having sons in the house.

Found a few cool OG XBox games but the 360 we have that's working can't play them because they all require an official XBox HD we don't apparently have for them to be backwards compatible? Bonus points for correctly guessing my XBox Live user account password (that is of course tied to an email account I lost access to 7 years ago). Disappointed.

Found some PS2 games that are not backwards compatible with our PS4 so I connected the PS2 slim to our only TV with component video and the display and audio are absolutely dreadful :ROFLMAO:

Back to not gaming. I keep wanting to try again but can't seem to get back into the swing and I don't want to sink $700 on a PS5 at this point.

Believe it or not, you can still get a lot of mileage out of a used XBox One S for about $200. I played Lies of P on mine and couldn't believe how good it looked. (Sadly, Lies of P is no longer on Game Pass, so there goes another $30.)

My xbox 360 finally took a dump after 10 years. I bought a PS5 with two controllers from costco for $479. It was worth it, having a lot of fun with it. But bummed I can’t play my 360 games anymore.

One thing I will say, the xbox 360 was pretty damn good for its time. Obviously yeah the ps5 graphics are better but are they 12+ years better? I’m not sure. Maybe if I had a 4k tv I would say so, I’m still on 1080 lol.

Hell the Xbox1 wasn't even as good as the 360

Xb1 had more power sure, but the library of games was shit in comparison

Going with the Xb1 over the PS4 was definitely an ultrafail on my part back then
We have a TON of 360 games. Problem is; they're all war games and WWE stuff. Things I have ZERO interest in playing. We have a bunch of PS4 stuff (not sure if it's backwards compatible with the PS5) so it kind of just makes it easier to buy another amp or modeler and keep in the hobby lane I am already in :ROFLMAO:

You can indeed play ps4 games on ps5

I think most or at least many ps4 games work on ps5, but double check specific games.

I paid for a couple months of ps plus so I can try a bunch of games and figure out what I like. Found some good stuff that’s included there. Got RDR2 for $15 and I’m deep in that right now. It’s nice buying games digitally and instantly being able to play them.

We have a PS+(?) sub that gives you free games. It ends up being a different version of the doom scrolling for movies to watch thing we do during a show hole on the TV end of things.

RDR2 is a phenomenal game, really enjoyed that.

You need a Switch dude

It’s an awesome game. I’m trying to resist the urge to go full GTA and murder everyone. I did tie up a woman from the train station and take her to the top of a mountain, and throw a knife into her skull. I felt way more guilty about that than the 2000 police helicopters I blew up in GTA V on my xbox. The game plays this dark and ominous music and then you have this lonely ride back down the mountain to reflect on what an evil piece of shit you are, lol.

Oh I used to drag so many bodies behind my horse. And feed gators lol

I must admit I always play it as clean as possible, don't kill anyone outside of the main missions where you have to.

Love all the side games like fishing, and finding the white Arabian horse early on gave me a great mount for the whole game, well with the trip and trying to tame her.
