Video Games

And worst of all, the enemy behavior reduces combat to a tedious process of trying to effectively target individual enemies (and select an appropriate weapon) while they shuffle in proximity between one another all around you. It doesn't feel challenging so much as pointless and annoying. To me, anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This shit is by far the most annoying part of the game; the "on-rails" movement makes fighting multiple enemies at once a fucking chore (just like the first game)....and this is what you'll be doing 95% of the time

Gotta love using your spear ultimate attack and just having it auto-lock on to some random enemy you didn't even want to target

It turned the game in to "one shot as many people as you can before actually engaging in combat"

The one-on-one fights are much better but they are also few and far between

Finally started putting some time in to Silksong

Made it past the mist area with the ghost ladies last night

Nice! That's a tricky area.

Case in point: I think Silksong is actually a good game. I just can't play it because it's too hard for me. :(

The difficulty level ramps up a lot early on which makes it really hard for casual players. IMO it's still a lot harder of a game than Hollow Knight. Satisfying when you get through it but it's a lot to get through.

As a comparison how much harder it is, I beat Hollow Knight on my first casual play through which took maybe 12-15 hours? I played through one more time beating in about 8-10 hours, and then went after the speedrun achievement which I got on my first try. Silksong, I think it took me 60 hours to beat the first ending and I've started a dozen new files to try and get the speedrun but can't get past the first act in a reasonable time. It's just a much more difficult game.

I want to go through and beat the game again for real on Steam (I don't want false achievements) before I start practicing certain areas. Then go after the speedrun.

Looking at Steam achievement rate, about half of all players beat the game, 15% get 100%, and then it drops to 4% or less for speedrun, steel soul (no deaths), etc. I got all of those on Hollow Knight but again don't know if I'll be able to steel soul Silksong.

So far the hardest part of Silksong is all the goddamn flying enemies that perfectly move ever-so-slightly out of your reach when you try to jump attack them

Goddamn i hate that shit so much lmao; most of my deaths have been from trying to deal with those fuckers and falling to my death

Game's been out a while so not going to spoiler tag anything...

Original movement is really tricky but if you want to make things easier you can grab a crest like Wanderer or Reaper. Wanderer you can get very early on if you farm some enemies for rosaries. Reaper you can get free halfway through Act 1.

I have several different crests which reminds me of another insane thing - why the HELL does it autoequip these when you first get them!?!

Say goodbye to your tools and relics until you find another bench..... :facepalm

Okay the debug mod with save states is a big help.

I spent probably 2 hours fighting Last Judge over and over again, no run back, just load the save state and fight. Took probably 20 tries to beat the first time (again), then started to beat more consistently. Was up to beating about 75% of the time.

Learned a lot about how/when to attack, and if I could consistently recognize one of the attacks I could really do well here. Something to work towards.

Anyways, took a break and came back and beat Last Judge on maybe the third real try (with run backs), and onto Act 2. Then barely made my way up to Cogwork Dancers who I beat on the first try.

I think I'm already 3 hours into this run so this probably won't do the < 5 hours achievement. But it's a good first try.

After some practice I made it to act 2 in about an hour! Beat last judge fairly easily on the first try. Think I only died once the entire time and that was to bell beast at the beginning of the run lol.

Now I need to practice act 2 stuff.

Over 40 years ago my mom bought me an Atari 2600 game console. Today, she rekindled that nostalgia by gifting me ...
