Video Games

Super Metroid is a top 10 game all time for me but I don't think I played hardly anything after that. I did play Fusion for a couple hours last year.

Shame that Nintendo stuff almost never goes on sale. I'd like to try out some of the newer Metroid games.
Prime 1 is great, 2 is really good as well (but the most recent console it's available on is the Wii I think). 3 started going in the wrong direction already, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I've been playing Metroid Prime 4 for several hours and it feels weird. Gameplay is great graphics are good. But it's really linear so far and it shoves tutorials and hints down my throat even though I disabled tutorials in the menu. The annoying sidekick will just force you to look at the map and show you exactly where you need to go and in what order. And don't forget to use the save station! Do you want to hear that again YES/NO

IS THERE SOMETHING YOU CAN ACTIVATE NOW THAT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU RIGHT NOW AND YOU'RE LOOKING STRAIGHT AT IT AND YOU JUST SCANNED THAT SOMETHING AND DON'T FORGET TO USE THE SAVE STATION

I was just thinking again about your comments above, and it struck me as funny:

I've only ever played one Metroid game. Not sure what it was called any more, but I would have been playing on a Wii circa 2009, if that helps? Anyway, I played through what I would have guessed was half the game, and wound up loading into a section where I absolutely could not determine what to do. (Nor turn back.) Stared at every pixel, over the course of several sittings, for what must have been over an hour, and literally could not find any way to leave the area or do anything at all. So I had to quit the game cold. :idk

To this day, I don't know whether that was a bug, or whether Metroid Prime just all of a sudden got way smarter than me LOL. So basically the polar opposite of your MP4 experience. I vote for a happy medium. :D

Super Metroid is peak Metroid IMO, although Prime 1 is close. The isolation and having to figure things out yourself are what make them special. MP4 has gotten better after the first few hours but it's still very linear and the overworld is pointless.

I could see having the handholding be optional as a compromise.

I'm (slightly) looking forward to The Game Awards this year to see if they announce anything worth a damn. They announced new Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi games at TGA 2 years ago and haven't said anything about them since. Maybe we'll get an update on them?

I just need to know what's going on with the next Neowiz (Lies of P) game. My consoles are mostly collecting dust lately. (Though I did have a brief addiction to the rather dopey "Vampire Survivors" - pointless but strangely hypnotic.)

I have a cold so I had plenty of time to finish Metroid Prime 4. It's not a bad game, but it's not a good Metroid either. Very linear, super easy (except for a difficulty spike in the final boss) and the end is padded with incredibly dumb fetch quests and gathering resources in the overworld, which is not fun or challenging, just incredibly boring.

I'm disappointed, although I wasn't expecting much.

Oh man, I loved the first Divinity: OS game so much. (Apart from the title, its having launched around the same time as a couple two-tree "Divine Divinity" games, leading to much confusion and worry that perhaps there were no longer any non-Divine game titles available to developers.)

The second Divinity: OS got a little bit too carried away with party customization IMO. Between the availability of way more characters than you were going to put to use, and the ability to customize those characters until they were totally removed from their intended roles, it was way too easy to build a busted party and not realize until you were many hours in and the difficulty started ramping up. Great game, but fussy, and it it didn't have the sense of humor or charm of the original.

Hopeful for this one (DA3 was not my bag), but like DOS2, it also looks a bit self-serious.

Bradley the Badger looks pretty hilarious. That's something I could definitely see myself playing.. Everything else seemed pretty dull at least as my tastes are concerned.

My 2025 PlayStation wrap up report.
I mostly like playing sniper games🤣

I love the Sniper Elite games
I always loved sniping in games, but never took the plunge to a dedicated sniper games… so… you sniping experts (slightly uncomfortable preference for game types really…. Are you healthy in the head? Joking…)
Whats the best sniper game? focusing on sneaking around and hiding and waiting is the experience (like movies) I want. I can imagine it’s actually hard to make a sniping focused game exciting story and gameplay wise…. There certainly must be elements incorporated that draw in various types of players.

But yeah… I would personally be more drawn to a full on realistic type of sniper game where you are inserted deep into enemy territory with a full team supporting the task, survival, sleeping, eating, nature/weather, realistic physics that will be vital. And where the actual gameplay the leads to a shot is longer than the “shoot” part…. I’m thinking DayZ type of realism…

has anyone tried going lone wolf, stalker sniper in DayZ?… it’s the hardest fucking task I’ve ever tried in game. Once spent months on a character only to be backstabbed by a random fresh spawn walking into a rusty shed in the middle of a field…. I realized it’s not fair to do this to myself, get into RP that deep only to end up crying in the sofa crawled up in fetus position while my family members is asking what the fuck I am doing…

Sniper Elite series is my suggestion as well.

I much prefer the slow steady approach to sniping games. I’ve tried COD and Battlefield etc but it’s all to hectic and sensory overload.

I keep an eye on PS store deals. I put things on my wish list and it notifies me when they go on sale. I got sniper contracts 2 for £3.99 instead of around £40.
