Upcoming: Bogner Snorkler

I’m really curious how this feels to play. My biggest gripe with the Shiva is that it’s not a ‘fast’ amp, great for slower playing but when I start getting into shreddy stuff there’s not nearly enough attack at the start of a note and it ends up feeling like the amp is dragging behind me. I’ve heard this about Bogner’s in general, kind of like the ‘Bogner’s are dark’ thing.

Funny thing is.....this reminds me of a Laney GH50L...single channel with a second switchable gain stage.

Even the front panel controls are virtually the same....

seriously...very similar anyway..poor mans snorkeler..... especially if you know the fx loop trick.

(Of course, I would say this though)🤣

hmm, yeah all a bit middle of the road to me. If it wasn't called a Snorkler (with the associated history) or made by Bogner I'd be swerving this.

quite compressed (almost like it has a sat switch engaged), midrangey/chewy where it limits how gainy you can go with it. Almost like a distortion pedal kind of distortion....

weird that we never heard the treble past 5 there, and the presence was kept quite low the entire time. Not really much high gain/AIC style riffs in that video. .

Yeah it doesn’t jump out to me as some unicorn tone or something you couldn’t cop with effort on other things, but I kind of dug the general dark and gummy vibe of it tbh. I wouldn’t turn it down. :ROFLMAO:

A friend had that Laney, it was badly biased and it got so hot to the point of grilling territory...but he loved the tone so much he didn't want anyone touching it.

When properly maintained...best amp for the money ....hands down......and I'll fight over it!🤪

It's funny how we all like different things, to the point where it's not appealing to me at all. Kind of a bummer, because the legend of it is so cool.
exactly how I feel. I want to love it, but honestly, even the 50W small dick energy Ecstasy would piss all over this I think.

Bigboi Ecstasy or Helios any day of the week, unfortunately. Uberschall is killer for newer AIC stuff.

For me, I just don't think I agree with Bogner's ear. I've not loved any Bogner I've played. Some more so than others, but I think I just gel with other brands more.

Very curious to hear if these ACTUALLY sound as good as people claim. The association with AIC counts for a LOT but IMO the more recent AIC tones sound much better, and most audio I've heard of the Snorkeler mod sounds quite midrangey.

Always had the impression the reason it wasn't a production amp was because Reinholds other circuits just sounded better. Looking forward to seeing once and for all, either way, itll be a nice pay day for all concerned, and a cool amp for collectors to actually be able to get hold of.

Jerry's been on record saying many times that it was never his primary recording amp,
and was just used for layering---so it is not like the Snorkler is THE AIC amp, is it? :idk

Huh, watched Reza's vid on it as well as Michael's: it sounds sooo close to the Ceriatone Chupacabra with the FOCUS disengaged to be honest. The hairy character, and pretty much where most of the frequencies sit.

Yeah it’s always been kind of downplayed but the lore has overtaken everything at this point.

It’s a bit similar with Adam Jones’s tone and the Super Bass. It’s definitely a factor but he used a combination of things and many of his best tones don’t have the Marshall in use at all. But everything you read online is all about his mythical modded Marshall that is the best most unobtainable amp ever

It stems from Reinhold being real f’n weird.
