TwoNotes GENOME!!!

to be completely fair, you can definitely also do this with windows laptops

Sure. But many of them will likely throttle in that case, once they get too warm and can't suck in sufficient cooling air anymore. Which simply isn't an issue with the MBA at all (as it just doesn't have any fans), doesn't even get lukewarm in most cases.

Has anyone compared GENOME to Cab-Lab 4 and Dyna packs ???
Yeah - I think Genome is an overall great / solid platform. Some really good amps (the TSM-AI stuff) in there; a couple I REALLY like:

- the Molly (Bogner Ecstasy)
- Diabolous (Randall Satan) which I'm surprised I really like because I found the NDSP Fortin NATAS kinda meh; the SWEEP knob is a lot of fun.
- the SnakeBite50 (Soldano Hot Rod 50)
- the Rockrider (Mesa Badlander 100W) which is comparable to my own 100W head

It has a whole ton of IRs & you can demo all of them which is really cool.
The BHG (Big Hairy Guitars) ones are solid & I suggest people start with those & the Pete Thorn signature ones which are killer.
I'm sure there are other great ones in there but there's too many of them so I'm far from having tried them all lol.
I have the York Audio Mesa 4x12 OS pack released for Cab-Lab & I think you can get comparable quality tones with Genome's DynIR cabs; I just like the Fractal UI better for moving the mics.

The effects are alright - I don't really love any of the Reverbs though but they're passable if you're not a huge effects guy.

Yeah I've been using that too, with my Suhr loadbox, and it is cool. But I'm also finding it not quite as aggressive as I'd like some of the time.

For sure - it's pretty smooth. Feels great to play through but doesn't cut quite as well in a busier mix.

Hmmm, I just got it installed. The demo cabs aren't too my taste. They're all very dark :-/
In the DynIR cab block click on the small Icon with a "user" profile logo (right next to the search box with the cabinet name); the icon will change to a shopping cart. You can then type in whatever cab, speaker name etc in that box and it'll allow you to demo all of them.

That's cool.

Thanks for getting in touch. One of the tricks I do (and the benefit of a digital system) is place an exciter or the enhancer just before some of the darker souding cabs - this really gives them some extra bite without compromising the tonality of the cabs themselves. Definitely worth a go if you are looking for a tone that really cuts through the mix!
