Tonex Pedal....It's REAL

That has nothing to do with what we're talking about (dealer return policies with regard to registered software etc, that seems to be an already accepted return). If one person has a problem with their refund (which can take days just to return to their form of payment) then of course the dealer or IK or whoever will take care of it if they contact them about their issue.
It still has to do with it being a real pain to return the pedal, but if you wanna deflect, go for it. 11 days to process a refund is...a lot in this day and age.

Is it a similar dealer policy as the one we are talking about wasn't an IK policy. We work with dealers to do our best to suit their return policies (I know Thomann has specifically worked with our rep for them, we are willing to work with the dealer or user with the "registered included software" policy that is being discussed, etc). We are also discussing the second hand transfer topics that have been raised here and elsewhere.
Yes, Thomann. IK Multimedia support handled it without a problem. Proof of return and the Pedal plus software was unregistered. (y) Just a bit cumbersome that this is not possible through the user account, was worried that another user would receive an already registered pedal.

In case anyone hasn’t tried this…

I posted some of this on the “other site” but just in case people are not trying this, it has made a huge difference For me.

I had not liked the IK factory captures until I Added the EQ after. The new High Gain tone captures seemed dull to my ears at first.

I really like the internal reverb mix turned up in the pedal , and the twisting the Treble Mids Bass and presence makes a huge difference For me.

I currently have been experimenting with the TONEX pedal in the loop of the AXEFX 3 and really enjoying it with the mark EQ and a 10 band EQ after the Tonex. What seemed dark and flat are now really enjoyable flavors of these amps

My go to IRs have been 3Sigma 2551 3A 4A 5A for some reason and they scratch the IR itch for me.

obviously my room, guitars, "FRFR" in my case is two Adams A7X output 1 and with a Firehawk 1500 Amp output two (just using as a monitor ) sound great.

so far I have been concentrating on amps only captures, and add my IR .

i have zero affiliation with any product or company, just throwing this out there as I was one of those that was hesitant to twist the knobs on the pedal.

"Dear baby jesus it's going on 13 days make this torment end..."

@IK Multimedia
Hi Peter, can you please specify the maximum dBu for the Input on the Spec page?

I finally go around to doing a video with the pedal. Most of the complaints have been aired at length on here before but you can hear all my captures with my guitars.

I haven't seen the app and the pedal used together like this or maybe I just missed it. But I am now pretty happy I decided to skip the Tonex pedal and go for the Strymon Iridium instead. The VIR cab editing on the pedal is also awful, just the amount you needed to spin that parameter knob to adjust the mix from one mic to the other...

The behavior of the app with the pedal is just bonkers stupid and seems like a quickly shoehorned in feature to offer some ability to put presets on the unit. I really hope IK are working on a revamped editor with better management of content and better editing with the pedal connected.

It's always frustrating to see a product that could be great but is hampered by design decisions. I went through that with the Yamaha THR100HD and its issues were all solvable but the company just did nothing. There's fundamental design issues IK has with their software and the way the pedal operates for anything but the two layers of knobs.

Thanks for posting an unbiased opinion 👍
Some reviewers give off an impression of a car salesman lol.

I actually thought of you a few times while navigating on there, so many odd decisions.

I am really glad that the pedal was out-of-stock at Thomann when I was in a spendy mood and went looking for it. Got only the software instead. Here's a reenactment of me using it for the first time:

1. I play the "Black Angus" tone model: "Ohh, that sounds thick."
2. I play the seconds preset: "Ohh, that sounds thick as well...wait a minute! This is supposed to be clean and it sounds exactly the same. WTF?!"
3. I realize that I am a dumbass, Tonex has been muted and I have been playing my AMP1+OX the whole time :facepalm
4. I unmute Tonex and play "Black Angus" and some other presets again: "Meh"
5. I capture my AMP1 and make a preset which sounds really close to the original.
6. I want to change some preset or tone model metadata: "How the fuck can I edit things?"
7. I rage quit the app.
8. I calm down and restart the app, where I am greeted by "Black Angus": "Where the fuck is my preset?!"
9. I rage quit again and remove the pedal from my wishlist.

Holy jankfest, Batman! I feel violated in my professional dignity as a software engineer just by writing about it 😜

Don't worry, this pretty much matches my experience with it. There are some good models in there..but they aren't the stock ones.

The Tone model vs Preset was confusing to me as on the surface they are the same but...not.

Yeah, janky indeed. The general consensus is that the software is tolerable because of the low cost to get into profiling.

After having to load third-party IR’s in, one at a time, that was the final nail in the coffin for me.

Currently waiting for a refund.
