Those Seymour Duncan Powerstage amps are utter tripe

The Hypex modules I replaced in my CLR were not much more expensive than an Ice module and certainly less than it would cost to build an equivalent tube amp. Also not the best for a generic guitar amp where it could see loads from 4-16 ohms or even 2 ohms.

The main point being, you CAN build quality SS amps at reasonable costs that will do the job as well as his tube amps. Class D, Class AB, Mosfets, whatever. He has his thing and that’s great, but for a clean power amp solution, tubes are NOT inherently better than SS, especially at the same price points.

I agree. I have a Fryette PS-2 and a 2/90/2. When amplifying my Fractal into guitar cabs I use QSC power amplifiers. Big solid state power sounds better for that application IMO.

TRIPE I TELLS YA! TRIPE!

BTW - guitarist in the OG post, he's still the guitarist in my new-not-quite-ready-to-release-stuff band, Summerisle. He uses a 50watt 5150III Stealth now, and doesn't use the Helix LT anymore. I think he sold it. He now has a lush board of pedals and gets some of the loveliest sounds.
