Have you played around with any of the more complex delays, like a Strymon Timeline for example? They can really take your guitar tone to places you may not have even imagined. They can really do some amazing stuff!

Playing and singing with a prominent delay is hard for me. If I did not sing but only played lead, I would have loved to buy, try and use something complex like a DD-200 or an El Capistan.

I'm also talking about how certain delays/settings can fill out the sound of a guitar. Like, I use(d) them in certain situations, where you don't really notice the effect, until you turn it off. Kinda like, adding some extra "flavor" to your tone. But nothing overpowering.

I am aware of the tone you are talking about. I think I saw the concept on a rig rundown of someone, where he uses a (modified) Aqua Puss Delay as a thickener.
It has to be always on, to make it work. My friend has a DD-8 (kept in Analog mode). Once she forgot to bring her board, and she was uncomfortable playing guitar, inspite of being much more skilled than I am.
She is used to it. We auditioned small amps (Katana Mini, Blackstar fly etc.) before Christmas, because she liked to gift one to her dad. She had bought her DD-8 with her because she couldn't imagine playing without it.
I am a clumsy, simple girl who has broken footswitches (A broken polytune) while gigging on an ill-lit stage. So only Guitar> Tuner > Two Overdrives > Amp for me.
For me…I study most effective with just a guitar…or the crappiest amp I can find.
With a great sound im just gonna noodle cause it sounds great.
Or..im gonna dial stuff..
