Thinking about selling the Stealth

I think the 5150III 50 watt heads are the shiznit. Got the 6L6 and EL34 variants. Sold my 5150III 100w “base” head and went with the Marshal JVM410H. So I have 3 stout heads and an EVH Lunchbox and rock out. If you have the amps and aren’t happy…. I’d look at your cabs. It took me a while but I settled on two Celestion’s I use depending on the application. Creamback 65’s or EVH Heritage Greenbacks. They have the sweet top end and midrange I crave. A bit lacking on native low end thump but I address that with outboard EQ and cab style… always closed back. 1x12 CB or EVH GB, 2x12 CB or 4x12 EVH GB.

These amps and cabs work for me.
100w 5150III head missing the resonance knob despite being marketed was a deal killer for me. Bean counters probably led to that omission wounding a killer offering IMO. Like MIDI… Geesh.

I have the matching 112s loaded with the G12H 30 watters. They're a good match I think? Odd thing is anymore; I don't want that UBER WOOF of a 4x12 so much. I like the single 12s and the leaner sort of sonic profile they bring to the table while still being :satan

Those G12H30’s never did it for me. I think the EVH Greenback Heritage GB’s used in the 4x12’s are there for a reason. And the CB’s are a close second. I don’t care for the brighter Celestion’s. Too harsh for me. They might sound great on stage in a band mix but that’s no longer my gig! Not knocking them, if. I liked those, I’d try the CB75’s…

I have 2 semi-open back 112s that have F12Xs in them that need swapped out. Maybe I will do some speaker flipping

Got that last recommendation from an ex-Celestion tech who worked with EVH. He retired recently to Cedar Park, TX… near me. He noticed me rolling Celestion’s on Craigslist locally and reached out to me about what I was looking for.

BTW, wanna wake up and smell the roses on a Blackstar amp? Load those CB75’s. Really nice

Good to swap ideas JT. I always appreciate your perspective.
Back at you. How much wattage or those EVH greenies rated at? I like the CB75 idea but the greenback thought always speaks to me. If nothing else to impart some warmth into proceedings where I am dialing up wayyyy too angry a tone for Love Shack riffage :sofa:rofl

Pretty sure the EVH Greenies are 20watts---which means you can only ever really use them
in a 4 x 12 configuration with a 50 or 100 watt head. :(

Yeah I run these 30 watters with the LX at 100 watts :bag I never push it that far but I get them cooking a bit. I wondered if the EVH greenies were just rebadged or if they were voiced a hair different and/or upscaled in power. I don't think I'd want to push my luck if these are 20 watts :nails

I’ve heard the Heritage GB EVH’s are good for 25 watts easy even though rated at 20. Hence the 100w rating on the EVH 5150III 4x12’s.

From Fender… who has to handle warranty when those puppies are paired with 100w EVH Heads.

Dig around you may find it supported.

That, and the Creambacks are beyond awesome.
Yes Sir, they are. Greenback based with modern power handling. And a more modern voice as a result.

I’d like to see a new V-Type based on a CB65 and CB75 collage rather than the current V30/GB mashup. V30’s sounded huge in my youth. I have different tastes 25 years later.

IME the 50W Stealth I have has several tricks. I spend most of my time on the green channel with dirt and effects straight into the front.

Sometimes I'll run straight into the blue channel with the gain around 3-4, and use my guitar's controls to manipulate the sound I want.

I don't hit the red channel very much but it can level heads and with these Greenbacks I could sterilize someone if I opened up the presence knob.

I'm most likely going to be using Stomp into the Green channel for an outdoor gig next summer playing bluesy rock and ska.

What dirt do you use up front of the green channel?

I love my LBX ii to bits. It's got multiple tricks; but then again - most tricks come from the players, not the amps ...

Gigged the Stealth Friday night. Was scared of the amount of gain on tap but up loud, had gain control rolled back and volume up and all was good. Badlander was definitely drier and crunch channely vs. the more saturated EVH but it actually worked out great. Giving another go this next Friday and I'm excited to keep the real amp streak rolling \m/
