I had the 100-watt 5150III EL34 Stealth. I didn't like it. I think it lasted a month before I sold it.I wish the el34 EVH interested me.
I'm a 6L6 man when it comes to any 5150 variant, TBH.

One time I had two Laney VH100R's at the same time. One had 6L6's and the other had EL34's.
What I can say for that amp is... the 6L6 version sounded more aggressive, and brighter. It was tighter sounding too, and palm mutes were thunderous. But on the whole it was smooth. There were no offensive frequencies that I can recall.
The EL34's sounded really aggressive too, but in a different way. I recall the amp would sound really in your face and harsh, in a way that the 6L6 one didn't. It wasn't as tight, and was a bit flubby in the lows, but it had its own thing going on.
This shit can be pontificated upon for days and days, and there aren't really any good ways to talk about tube differences. But my experience has been, it does make a difference; to some degree.
Even if the amp is predominantly preamp distortion, the power tubes do colour the tone in a certain way; it can be subtle, but it is there.
Yeah I was mainly trying to envision that 6l6 blue channel sound that gets a bit of praise as an all around higher gain crunch with el34 power. I am generally a 6l6 5150 guy as well but I absolutely LOVED the 6534+ so I have room in heart for all of itI had the 100-watt 5150III EL34 Stealth. I didn't like it. No. Both are good amps but the BL was much better at doing "lower gain" tones. My idea of "lower gain" duly noted
I wish the el34 EVH interested me. I had it and was immediately turned off by it. It'd be interesting to give it another go and see if I was wrong; if nothing else than to have el34s back in my life. I know there is a mod that helps with something on the blue channel?
Well my reins at this point in your mental intersection- Jay Strange arrives and remarks:
Great amp but I just don't have the desire to turn it on. Biggest issue causing these feelings is almost 100% because of me not having a proper speaker cab. These F12 loaded 112s are great for modeling purposes but not the same experience with amps at all. Running it through the Suhr is a blast but boiling it down to digital at that point makes the III more fun since I am running it through studio monitors. My desire for a face ripping Marshall still burns but that lack of cabinet will have me in the exact same spot in an instant.
No apologies. Levels are very consistent vs. The VII which was horribly imbalanced between modes and channels.Sorry to keep derailing your stealth thread to yak about the badlander, but since you do modeller stuff do you know if there’s changes to how the return behaves when listening on clean vs crush mode? Does it stay consistent across the board or do the levels change?

I fucking hate EVH heads, or any variant of the 5150. Any time one of the modeler companies releases a new model of one, I'm like
The Stealth 1/4 stack looks fucking TIGHTman I love my 50 watter 6L6. Its no mark but it kicks ass
I actually almost sold it recently but then I decided naw why the fuck would I do that
The Stealth 1/4 stack looks fucking TIGHT
Ignore the pileYou've got dual 1x12s going on right?
Ngl my 50 watter on top of the evh 2x12 looks kind of silly/triggering to me with how tiny it is in comparison to the cab
Ignore the pile

1.5 trick ponies.
OG 5150 is god tier. Full stop. EVHs are great but for our band material; its aggressive AF.
